Veteran Repair Kits
This mod started out as an exploration of the **InventoryPreset** patch, but quickly evolved into something much deeper: a survival and economic tweak based on authenticity.
🛠️Mod concept
In Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, you can instantly repair swords, armor, and gear using portable tool kits. But when you think about it, this is a bit too convenient for a medieval setting. Here's a detailed breakdown of the various toolkits in the game:
- ❌ **WEAPON REPAIR KIT** – Might be able to sharpen knives, but full repair or dent removal? Unlikely
- ❌ **Armor Repair Kit** – Even less realistic. Tinkering with plate or chain mail on the road? You need tools, fire and a workshop
- ✅ **Shoemaker’s Tool Kit** – Small on-the-spot repairs to boots seem entirely reasonable: nails, hammer, maybe wire
- ✅ **TAILOR KIT** – A needle and thread go a long way. Very reasonable for travelers
- ✅ **Gunsmith Tool Kit** – Cleaning rods, oil and brushes should be standard maintenance tools
- ✅ **Bowmaker's Kit** – May include string wax, spare strings, resin, glue. feels reasonable
⚔️ Module function
I **removed the weapon and armor repair kits as completely as possible**. This means that at the beginning of the game, you may need to change weapons, or make sure to maintain your weapons before setting off. You'll also use the blacksmith's services more frequently, which is a welcome drain on the game's economy.
🔧 Compatibility Notes
This type of module has **poor** compatibility. If you have many mods that edit InventoryPresets, it's a good idea to spend some time looking at conflicts. To be able to remove items from inventory, I need to patch a lot of files.
🧪 Test status
You can imagine how much testing this type of mod requires, but I have so many projects going on that I don't have much time to fully test it. If you see these repair kits, **please report them to me**.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
