Leechcraft
🩹 Dynamic bandaging system
This mod started with a simple idea: to nerf the bandage effect for my **Veteran Hardcore** overhaul. While digging into the game logs, I noticed that Bandage Salve has an efficiency parameter. Instead of simply reducing efficiency across the board, I thought - why not make it dynamic?
So I linked efficiency directly to **knowledge** skills, making bandaging appear clumsy and wasteful in the early stages of the game, but gradually improved as Henry learned and grew. Ultimately, this isn't just a nerf or buff - it's a growth system based on medieval lore.
✨ Core Functions
- **Dynamic Bandaging** – Your bandaging skills now scale with **Learning**. The more you learn, the more precise and effective your bandages will be, meaning you will need fewer bandages as your knowledge increases.
- **FIVE HEALING LEVELS** – Progress is tracked via visible buffs (*Leechcraft I–V*), with each level reflecting your current proficiency
- **AUTO PROGRESS UPDATE** – Buffs update seamlessly when you wake up from sleep or load a save
- **Immersive Text** – Each level has a unique description inspired by medieval medicine and the game’s worldview
- **⚔️ EARLY GAME CHALLENGE** - At the beginning, you will consume more bandages than before, making wound treatment costlier and survival more difficult. Later in the game, your knowledge will save resources - so stock up on bandages!
💡 **Leechcraft V** matches original bandage efficiency, ensuring balance at peak skill - but still a long way to go before reaching this level of mastery
🔧 Technical implementation
This mod works by plugging into the game's existing systems:
- **Sleep/Wake Hook** - Script listener on **Skip Time UI** event to detect when Henry wakes up
- **Scholarship Check** – Get your **SkillLevel** level directly from **player.soul:GetSkillLevel("scholarship")** API at this time
- **Layered Buff System** – Depending on your level, specific buffs are applied (**Leechcraft I–V**). Each buff modifies the **fae** (first aid efficiency) multiplier and changes the bandage consumption
- **Buff Handling** – applies buffs by UUID, overriding lower levels to prevent stacking issues
- **Skill Integration** – Visible **Leechcraft** skill entries provide in-game explanations, including custom icons and localized descriptions
Rather than a simple fixed reward, this approach ties **bandaging strength directly to knowledge**, making your treatment feel earned and contextual, rooted in your study of medicine and books.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
