️ Workbench expansion — more space on every workbench
Expanded crafting grid for all 11 workbenches in Human Host - Crafting (F1), Campfire, Carpentry, Cutting, Anvil, Firearms, Mechanical, Biochemical, Electronics, Stove and Cement Mixer. The window will grow taller to show additional rows, subsequent rows will scroll, and your items will be stored by the game's own save system. Default configuration: 14 → 21 seats for ordinary benches, 7 → 28 seats for campfires and cement mixers. Each workbench can be configured individually with up to 210 slots.
why do you want this
When crafting in Human Host, all items sit on a workbench grid: materials are pulled into slots first, and then all finished items fall into the same grid. The original version had 14 slots (7 for campfires/cement mixers), and mass production would quickly become stuck - materials and products competed for space, and production came to a standstill. More slots mean larger, continuous batches, and the workbench doubles as additional storage space.
✨ What it does
Grid rows per workbench - Each of the 11 workbench in the configuration has its own number of rows (7 per row, rows 1 to 30). This mod only adds rows, never removes original rows
The window will grow as you grow - up to 3 rows will appear for regular benches, up to 4 rows for campfires/cement mixers, and the quantity bar and crafting buttons will move down to fit. Rows outside top scroll visible
Native Scrollbar - The scrollbar is native to the game (cloned from the recipe list) and looks and feels the same; it automatically hides when everything fits. The mouse wheel can be used anywhere on the grid, even on item icons
Take All shortcut - open the bench window, press the game's take all key (default R key, followed by the rebind key), sweep everything into the backpack/belt - just like the storage box, just the window stays open and you can continue working
Slot Full Warning - The original would silently cancel crafting if materials could not be loaded into a full slot (just a click, nothing else). You will now receive a clear notification telling you to clear space
Designed to be save-safe - items in expansion slots are saved by the game itself. Lowering the line count or uninstalling won't remove anything: out-of-scope items are just hidden until you increase the line count or reinstall.
Includes drag fix - icons no longer get stuck in the wrong position when dragging items while scrolling the grid (same fix for my Backpack/Storage Box Expand ship and they coexist normally)
The fine print, honestly
Continue running when the crafting window is closed (vanilla behavior) - the finished product will continue to fill the cells that were expanded in your absence. Bonfires still refuse to be run unattended as a general rule
Products fill the grid starting from the bottom row (original fill starts from the end) - if you don't see your item, scroll down
The visible row limit exists for a reason: taller windows cover the shortcut bar. Up to 3 rows are visible for regular benches, 4 rows for campfires/cement mixers; everything above is a scroll
Take All: If the storage box window is open at the same time, the original Take All wins; the number in the quantity input box never triggers
Removing a bench still requires emptying it first (vanilla rules), and a destroyed bench will drop its contents like any container
The mesh full notification will only trigger when space is tight - if there is not enough material, a dim material icon will usually be displayed
⚙️ Configuration
BepInEx\config\humanhost.workbench.expand.cfg
--Created on first launch.
[Row] — The total number of rows per workbench (crafting, campfire, anvil, etc.), 7 cells per row
MaxVisibleRows — How many rows to display before scrolling. 1 = Keep each window at its original height (additional rows are just scrollable), 3 = All benches show 3 rows, 4 (default) = Campfires/cement mixers show 4 rows, regular benches keep the 3 row limit …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
