Shows separate movement-relative and reconstructed world speeds, including boat linear and rotational travel, in Unity units per second.

About this mod Author’s original text

Speedometer

Shows the local player's relative movement speed and actual world-space speed in Unity units per second (u/s)

using a compact native-style HUD.

Features

  • MOVE reads the game's own movement-relative velocity, so it shows walking and movement relative to a boat.
  • WORLD combines the game's player-relative velocity with the boat's linear and rotational velocity, so it

continues updating while riding anywhere on a moving or turning boat.

  • Both readouts are visible by default and can be disabled independently.
  • MOVE is horizontal; WORLD can optionally include vertical movement for full three-dimensional speed.
  • Uses configurable smoothing to keep the number readable without hiding short speed changes.
  • Supports label visibility, zero to three decimal places, scale, opacity, and screen position.
  • Automatically hides while paused, in menus, during loading, or when the normal gameplay HUD is disabled.
  • Read-only: it never changes position, velocity, physics, input, or time scale.

Units

Unity does not impose a real-world unit, but games normally treat one world unit as approximately one metre. The

HUD therefore uses u/s rather than claiming a specific real-world measurement.

Compatibility

  • How to Fish 1.0.5
  • BepInEx 5.4.23.5

Development disclosure

This project was developed with substantial assistance from OpenAI Codex. The packaged code was reviewed and

compiled against the game before release.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
