How to Fish Dropped Persistence

Save and restore items picked up and dropped by the player.

Function

  • Only items that players have picked up and dropped are saved
  • Do not save the initial map items to avoid duplicating map items
  • Automatically restore after re-entering the same server archive
  • Homeowner is responsible for saving and restoring, other players do not need to install
  • Keep the game's original SavedItem field intact
  • Preserve item position, rotation, linear velocity and angular velocity
  • Compatible with gun accessories, bullet enhancement, melee sharpness, skin, maturity, weight, bet multiplier and kill multiplier

Install

  • Install BepInEx 5.
  • Place HowToFishDroppedPersistence.dll into:

BepInEx/plugins/HowToFishDroppedPersistence/

  • Only homeowners need to install this plug-in.
  • Start the game and enter the server archive. The plug-in will automatically create a configuration file.

Configuration

Configuration file:

BepInEx/config/local.howtofish.droppedpersistence.cfg

Configurable items:

| Project | Default | Description |

| --- | ---: | --- |

| General.Enabled | true | Enable saving function |

| Persistence.MaxDroppedItems | 256 | Maximum number of dropped items saved per server archive |

save rule

  • Items must be picked up by the player first and then dropped to the ground before they can enter the snapshot.
  • Items that are held, put in a backpack, hung from a fishing rod, carried by a seagull, or bound to a dead player will not be saved.
  • Existing snapshots will not be overwritten with empty lists when switching scenes.
  • Data is saved separately by server archive name.

Network description

This plug-in only requires homeowners to install it. The restored items are synchronized to other players through the original network object of the game. Players who have not installed the plug-in can also see and pick up the restored items.

data location

Snapshots are saved at:

BepInEx/config/local.howtofish.droppedpersistence.drops..json

uninstall

Exit the game before uninstalling. Deleting the plug-in DLL will not delete the saved JSON snapshot; if you need to clear the data, manually delete the corresponding local.howtofish.droppedpersistence.drops.*.json files.

compatibility

  • How to Fish 1.0.9
  • BepInEx 5
  • Only use the game's original item save field and do not rely on other mods

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
