Dynamic Weather

Dynamic Weather adds a continuous day/night cycle and island-specific weather to How to Fish.

Features

  • Rain with darker, cloudier skies.
  • Thunderstorms with lightning and procedural thunder.
  • Snow and snowstorms.
  • Hurricanes with heavy rain, strong wind, debris, spray, and larger waves.
  • Different weather probabilities for every island.
  • Layered stereo rain, wind, and thunder audio.
  • Weather audio routed through the game's Master and Effects volume controls.
  • Weather-driven changes to movement, traction, boats, waves, fish bite times, and reel speed.
  • Deterministic FishNet synchronization for automatic weather in multiplayer.

Dynamic Weather does not modify save files, money, health, inventory, quests, or progression.

Installation

Mod manager — recommended

Install DynamicWeather Mod Manager, r2modman, or Gale. The required BepInEx pack is installed automatically.

Manual installation

  • Install BepInEx 5.4.23.5 x64.
  • Extract the package into the inner game folder containing How to Fish.exe.
  • Confirm this file exists:

BepInEx/plugins/DynamicWeather/HowToFish.DynamicWeather.dll

Controls

| Key | Action |

| --- | --- |

| F6 | Cycle to the next manual weather condition |

| F7 | Return to automatic island weather |

Optional Console Mod commands

Install ConsoleMod separately to use these commands:

weather status

weather auto

weather clear

weather rain

weather storm

weather snow

weather hurricane

weather volume 0-100

weather gameplay on|off

weather strength 0-100

clima is also available as an alias for weather.

Gameplay behavior

| Weather | Effects |

| --- | --- |

| Rain | Reduced traction, light movement resistance, small waves, slightly faster bites |

| Storm | Player gusts, stronger boat wind, larger waves, slower reeling |

| Snow | Lower mobility and traction, calmer water, slower fish activity |

| Hurricane | Strong knockback, camera shake, heavy boat forces, large waves, difficult reeling |

The host applies boat and catch-time effects. Each player applies local movement and camera effects. In multiplayer, manually forced weather remains visual while gameplay physics use the shared automatic weather state to prevent desynchronization.

Compatibility

  • How to Fish for Windows x64
  • Steam build 24911270
  • Game version shown by the tested build: 1.0.9
  • Unity 6000.4.4f1
  • Mono scripting backend
  • BepInEx 5.4.23.5

Avoid running another mod that also controls global lighting, weather, waves, or the day/night cycle.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
