Console Mod
Console Mod adds an extensible in-game command console to How to Fish for players and future community mods.
Press ` ` — the BackQuote key below Esc on most keyboards — to open or close the console. Escape` also closes it.
Features
- Persistent command history using the Up and Down arrow keys.
- Command and alias completion using Tab.
- Support for quoted arguments.
- Safe player-input blocking while the console is open.
- Cursor and player-input restoration when closing.
- Thread-safe public command API for other BepInEx mods.
- Does not pause the game, preserving multiplayer behavior.
Installation
Mod manager — recommended
Install ConsoleMod Mod Manager, r2modman, or Gale. The required BepInEx pack is installed automatically.
Manual installation
- Install BepInEx 5.4.23.5 x64.
- Extract the package into the inner game folder containing How to Fish.exe.
- Confirm this file exists:
BepInEx/plugins/ModConsole/HowToFish.ModConsole.dll

API for mod developers
Reference HowToFish.ModConsole.dll at build time without bundling a second copy inside your package:
IDisposable registration = ModConsoleApi.RegisterCommand(
"my.mod.guid",
"mycommand",
"Short command description.",
"mycommand ",
args => "Result: " + string.Join(" ", args),
"alias");
Dispose the returned registration from your plugin's OnDestroy method. ModConsoleApi.ApiVersion is 1 in this release. Mods can keep Console Mod optional by locating the API through reflection.
Configuration
BepInEx/config/fernando.howtofish.modconsole.cfg
- Console.Tecla — open/close key; default BackQuote.
- Console.MaximoDeLinhas — visible history limit; range 50–1000.
Persistent command history is stored separately in BepInEx/config/fernando.howtofish.modconsole.history.txt.
Compatibility
- How to Fish for Windows x64
- Steam build 24911270
- Game version shown by the tested build: 1.0.9
- Unity 6000.4.4f1
- Mono scripting backend
- BepInEx 5.4.23.5

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
