About this mod Author’s original text

BloodColor

Change the colour of the blood in How to Fish.

Green, black, blue, bright pink, glowing radioactive sludge, whatever you want. It changes the

spray when you hit something and the splatter left behind on the ground.

You can also just turn blood off completely.

Changes happen right away. Pick a new colour while you're playing and the next hit uses it. No

restarting.

Installing

Easiest way is a mod manager like r2modman or the app. Install it and hit play.

Doing it by hand: grab BepInExPack

first, then drop this zip's contents into the folder where How to Fish.exe lives. The DLL

should end up at BepInEx/plugins/BloodColor/BloodColor.dll.

Changing the colour

Two ways, and they're the same setting. Move one and the other follows.

In game, with Mod Menu: drag the R, G and B sliders. The colour updates as you

drag, so you can just watch it and stop when you like it.

In the config file: open BepInEx/config/com.zoe.howtofish.bloodcolor.cfg in Notepad and put

a hex code in Color.

Heads up: the Color box in the in-game menu only takes numbers, so you can't type a hex code

into it. Use the sliders in game, or the config file if you want to paste a code in.

Blood

Color: a hex colour code, like B01C1C. You can paste one from any colour picker online.

The # is optional. Colour names like red, lime or cyan work too. Two extra characters on

the end is transparency, so B01C1C80 is half see-through.

R / G / B: the same colour as three 0-255 sliders. Use these in game.

Mode: three options.

  • Replace uses your colour, plain and simple. This is the one you want.
  • Multiply tints the original colour instead of replacing it. It keeps the light and dark

shading the game already had, so it looks a bit richer, but it can only make blood darker.

Picking a bright colour here won't do much.

  • Vanilla doesn't change the colour at all. Handy if you only want the opacity slider or the

off switch.

Opacity: how visible blood is. 1 is normal, 0 is invisible.

Intensity: brightness. Leave it at 1 for normal colours. Turn it up past 1 if you want blood

that actually glows, which looks great with neon. A hex code can't describe anything brighter

than plain white, so this is how you get past that.

EnableBlood: turn it off and no blood spawns at all.

Targets

Two on/off switches if you only want to change some of it. For example, turn off Decals to get

coloured spray but leave the stains on the floor looking normal.

Advanced

Don't touch these unless something's wrong.

  • LogEffects: writes what the mod found into the BepInEx log. Turn this on before you report

a problem.

Colours to try

| | Code |

| --- | --- |

| Normal-ish red | B01C1C |

| Dark and thick | 6E0B0B |

| Alien green | 39C24A |

| Black oil | 141414 |

| Blue blood | 2A5BD7 |

| Neon pink (set Intensity to 2.5) | FF00AA |

| Milk | F2F0E6 |

Setting these in game instead? The sliders are just the code split into pairs. B01C1C is

R 176, G 28, B 28.

Multiplayer

Fine to use on your own. This only changes what blood looks like on your screen. Nothing gets

sent to anyone else, so other players see whatever colour they've got and nobody needs to match.

Known issues

  • The small burst of blood when something gets gibbed stays its normal colour, and can't be

changed. It's built with Unity's VFX Graph, and that effect doesn't expose a colour setting for

a mod to reach, so there's nothing there to change. The spray and the splatter both work.

  • Multiply mode can only darken. Use Replace and turn up Intensity if you want bright.
  • Pressing. hides all decals. That's a normal game keybind, not this mod, but it does look

like the mod broke.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
