About this mod Machine translation

Better Display / BetterDisplay

Version 0.4.3

Improved How to Fish's local HUD display while retaining the game's original item filtering, distance, quantity, perspective, and hiding rules.

Loader Description: This is the MelonLoader Mod, not the BepInEx Mod. Please install MelonLoader 0.7.3 Open-Beta (Mono) first; only the BepInEx installation environment cannot load this Mod.

Function

  • Added high-contrast colors, dark outer rings and slight breathing effects to the original dots, and supported the colors of hostile mobs, player markers and pickup items respectively.
  • "Better Display" menu in the original settings interface: supports color presets, dot enhancement, pulse effects, ballistic correction, ammunition display, food information and status value display switches.
  • Small crosshair in the center of the screen.
  • Displays the health/hunger value restored by food, the specific value of health/hunger value in the lower left corner, and the number of firearms and ammunition.
  • Use a red water droplet to indicate the direction of the Boss outside the screen; when the Boss is behind, the indicator will move according to the left and right orientation of the camera space.
  • Local firearm ballistics correction: align the shooting direction generated by ordinary firearms to the center of the screen, and at the same time clean up the accumulated viewing angle deviation when the firearm is continuously held.

Install

  • Install MelonLoader 0.7.3 Open-Beta (Mono, Windows x64).
  • Place Mods/BetterDisplay.dll in the compressed package into the Mods folder in the game root directory.
  • Launch the game; press F8 to open the Better Display settings menu.

This package can be imported directly when using a supported Mod Manager.

Requirements and compatibility

  • Game: "How to Fish"
  • MelonLoader 0.7.3 Open-Beta
  • The current development environment is tested according to game 1.0.10 and Mono backend
  • Does not contain game files, MelonLoader files or game assemblies

HUD, menu and crosshair functions only modify the local UI. Ballistic correction modifies the shooting direction generated by local players when shooting normal firearms; when online, it is recommended that all players use the same version and confirm that the server rules allow the use of Mods.

Configuration

Settings are saved to MelonLoader's UserData/MelonPreferences.cfg. The "Original" button in the menu can restore the original color of the corresponding category; when a feature is turned off, no additional tracking objects will be created.

Known limitations

The instantaneous recoil and firing animation of the firearm are still controlled by the original game. The first version does not set game items as OutlinedObject, so it will not change the item's rendering layer, collision layer, or original interactions.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
  3. For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.

Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
