Better Corpses — better corpses
English
Overview
Better Corpses turns player corpses into an economy. When someone dies, their corpse rolls a random price (−50 to 50 by default; the range is configurable). Whoever picks up a corpse gets to use it:
- Sell to money NPCs — drop the corpse at the feet of a money-collecting NPC and it is eaten and paid out by its price (a negative price means you pay).
- Casino table — drop the corpse on the roulette table and bet on a color: black/red pays ×2, green ×35 (vanilla payout rules).
- Slot machine — feed the corpse to the slot machine for a chance to unlock a skin (the feeder unlocks it).
It also adds a forced respawn wait: after death, both revive paths (give-up respawn and being slapped back to life) stay locked for a configurable duration (default 5 seconds), with an on-screen countdown. The give-up hold duration is also configurable (default 1 second = vanilla).
- Server-authoritative: prices, sales, bets and rolls are resolved on the server; all clients see the same result.
- Every feature has its own toggle; with the master switch off, everything behaves exactly like vanilla.
- Pickup rules stay vanilla: whoever grabs a corpse owns its economy actions, and the money goes to them.
Installation
- Install BepInEx 5 (BepInExPack for How to Fish) into the game directory.
- Extract the zip and merge the BepInEx folder into the game folder (e.g. F:\steam\steamapps\common\How to Fish\How to Fish\).
- Launch the game through Steam. The mod loads automatically; check BepInEx\LogOutput.log for BetterCorpses.
Plugin location: BepInEx\plugins\BetterCorpses\BetterCorpses.dll
Configuration
The config file BepInEx\config\top.yw.bettercorpses.cfg is generated on first launch. Edit it while the game is closed (or in-game via Mod Menu if installed).

Compatibility & notes
- Works in singleplayer (host) and multiplayer; the host's settings apply.
- Selling a corpse with a negative price reduces the shared money pool (vanilla SellItem behavior, not clamped).
- Boss-fight give-up restrictions are untouched; the forced wait stacks on top of vanilla rules.
- Requires BepInEx 5.4 (BepInExPack for How to Fish). No other dependencies.

Module introduction
Better Corpses turns player corpses into an economy: when someone dies, the corpse randomly generates a price (default −50~50, range configurable). Whoever picks up the body can dispose of it:
- Sell to the NPC who collects money - throw the corpse at the feet of the NPC who collects the money. The NPC will eat it and settle the price according to the price of the corpse (negative price = you pay back).
- Go to the gambling table - throw the corpse into the gambling table, guess the color: black/red ×2, green ×35 (original odds rules).
- Feed the slot machine - put the corpse into the slot machine and have a chance to draw skins (unlocked by the feeder).
In addition, there is a new mandatory waiting time for resurrection: after death, both giving up rebirth and being photographed alive will be locked for a period of time (default 5 seconds, configurable), with a countdown on the screen; the long press …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
