RandomCrestMod Instructions for Use (Confusion)
Simplified Chinese | English
Published to (Community Hollow Knight: Silksong), it is recommended to use the mod manager (r2modman / Gale Mod Manager) to search for RandomCrestMod installation, and the BepInEx dependency will be automatically processed.
A "Hollow Knight: Silk Song" BepInEx module: adds a new heraldry "Chaos" (English Chaos).
After equipping it, attacks, wire bindings, tools, and spells are all randomized - you never know what will happen in the next second.
The coat of arms is unlocked at the start of each archive and can be switched on any bench. All six slots are unlocked by default.
All random effects only take effect when the equipment is in chaos and do not affect other emblems at all.
Install
- Install BepInExPack Silksong first (it will be installed automatically using the mod manager).
- Place RandomCrestMod.dll into:
/BepInEx/plugins/lifelan-RandomCrestMod/RandomCrestMod.dll
(Use the module manager to install, or build by yourself using dotnet build -c Release, the build script will be copied automatically.)
- Start the game and select Chaos on any bench.
Heraldry

| --- | --- |
| Name | Chinese Chaos, English Chaos |
| Description | You never know what will happen next second. |
| Unlock | Unlockable at the start of each archive |
| Toggle | Any bench, same as normal coat of arms |
| Slots | All six unlocked (1 red / 1 skill / 2 blue / 2 yellow) |
Function
All the following will only take effect when the equipment is in chaos. When removed, other sigils behave exactly like the original game.
| Function | Description |
| --- | --- |
| Random attack | Each attack randomly uses the attack module of a certain emblem, and the direction you press (normal/up/down/wall kicking/sprinting/charged slash) remains unchanged. |
| Random silk binding | Each time the silk binding randomly uses the silk binding effect of a certain heraldry. |
| Random Tool | Each throw will randomly turn into any red tool in the game, regardless of whether it has been obtained. |
| Tool Continuous Throw | One throw will be thrown multiple times in a row: +1 for each level of tool bag, and +1 for Quick Sling (quick throw) equipped; each continuous throw will re-randomize a new tool. |
| Random Spells | Each time the Soul Silk skill is released, it will randomly become one of 6 spells. |
| Random taunt | Press the taunt button (R3/V) to randomly use one of three forms: normal 80%, beast crest roar 14%, throwing ring special action 6%; the beast form will be switched together with the exclusive action. |
| Taunting Sacrifice | When the equipment is in chaos, after playing a complete taunt on the ground and the fragments are ≥ 80, 80 fragments will be consumed and given to the rosary according to the random form: 0~50 for normal, 60 for beast, and 80 for throwing ring; if the fragments are less than 80, the taunt is just a show, and no deduction will be given. |
| Cross-Stitch Strengthening | When the equipment is in chaos, Cross-Stitch will automatically counterattack even if it is not attacked after taking a stance; only automatic counterattack will remove the hit spark and add a layer of pink and white highlights, and the real parry will retain the original spark. The cross stitches of other coats of arms are completely original. |
| Tool times | All tools share a basic 16 times of use (configurable) before sitting on the chair, and each level of the tool bag adds an additional 25%; replenishment does not consume fragments; each level of the tool bag has an additional +8% probability (upper limit 40%). This throw does not consume times. |
| Custom HUD | Custom wireframe, fixed "random" tool/spell HUD icons, custom heraldic spool in save selection screen. |

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin
- The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
- Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
- Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
- Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.
Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
