🎯 Module introduction

Once you get familiar with Hogwarts Legacy's combat system, defeating enemies may become too easy. If you add potions, deadly plants, and equipment bonuses... you will become quite powerful compared to your opponents. There are already some mods on the market that try to solve this problem by making enemies more aggressive or have more health. This module adopts a simpler method: **just level up all NPCs**. (Hogwarts Legacy even has a mechanism for this functionality built into its SQL database.)

In this module, I provide NPCs with an average bonus of level 10, but the specific value may fluctuate between level 7 and level 12. Note that the game itself already provides a 2-3 level bonus to some of the deadlier enemies, so you may occasionally run into enemies that are up to 15 levels higher than you. This is still doable given your various strengths, but if they have a few friends who are also 10 levels above you... well, you might be facing a real challenge! 😉

However, it should be emphasized that this mod will only increase the level of NPCs by 10 levels based on the level that the game originally planned to give them. How the game decides what levels to assign is a mystery, and it's not based solely on player level (although that's certainly a factor). So you won't always face enemies who are 7-12 levels higher than you. Many times their level difference will be less than this value. But at least, they will be 10 levels higher than the enemies you originally faced!

📦 Installation Guide

  • **AUTO INSTALL**: Can be installed automatically via the "Vortex" or "Mod Manager Download" button.
  • **Manual Installation**: If Vortex installation fails, please manually download the ZIP file, extract the PAK file from it, and place it in the following directory:

`Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\`

💡 **Tip**: If the `~mods` folder does not exist, please create it manually.

---

🗑️ Uninstall method

  • **Vortex Installation**: Click the "Remove" button for that mod in Vortex... **but afterwards**, be sure to check the folder `Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\` to make sure there is no folder named something like "XXX-TougherEnemies10_v?_?_?" (XXX is a three-letter prefix, depending on how many mods you have installed). If such a folder exists, delete it. Vortex is supposed to remove it, but sometimes it misses it. If the folder still exists, the mod was not actually uninstalled.
  • **Manual installation**: Just delete the `TougherEnemies10.pak` file directly from the `Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\` folder.

⚠️ Compatibility and conflicts

This module modifies and replaces the game's core file `PhoenixShipData.sqlite` SQL database file.

If you have other mods installed that also modify the game's SQL data (such as my other mod **Fewer Spiders**), please use the **Mod Merger program** and follow the instructions therein to:

a) Intelligently merge these changes; b) Install the resulting merged PAK file.

🔍 **TIP**: If you want to see what specific changes my mod made to the SQL database, just load my mod into Mod Merger and you'll be able to see a detailed list of modifications. 😊

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
