Poacher Animagus Mask

🎭Mod Overview

The poachers in Hogwarts Legacy have really cool designs and I always wished I had access to their costumes while playing the game, but unfortunately the game didn't offer that. So I decided to make this and another Poacher Mask mod.

**This is a replacement mod that replaces the legendary mask in the game** (obtained by completing the main quest). Quite a few people asked me to make an Animagus mask, so here it is!

📥 Installation method

Very simple! Just put the 3 `.pak` files contained in the zip package into your game directory:

`SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks` folder.

🗑️ Uninstall method

Delete these `.pak` files from the above `Paks` folder.

⚠️ Important information and known issues (must read before installing/commenting)

For the best experience, be sure to understand the following:

  • **COMPATIBILITY IMPROVED**: Masks have been improved to be as compatible with hoods and hats as possible (current state).
  • **Neck weight issue**: **There is an issue with the weight distribution of the neck** (the neck part moves with the head as if no weights are drawn).
  • **MODEL ADJUSTMENT**: The hood and belt on the original model have been removed (which would otherwise conflict too much with the in-game hood).
  • **TEXTURE**: The texture remains as is (may cause some issues).
  • **Hairstyle**: I'm not sure how it looks with different hairstyles.
  • **Female Model**: The female version has some ear molding issues and may have more molding when paired with the hat.
  • **Performance**: There may be unforeseen issues affecting performance, such as a mask model used as a clothing item with a high polygon count.
  • **Mod Conflict**: **If you install a large number of other modules, conflicts may occur** (most likely caused by overlapping block IDs of different modules).

❓ FAQ

**Q: Why does the neck move with the head? Can it be repaired? **

A: This is a question of weight distribution. The game didn't recognize the bones that came with the model, and I was told not to tinker with the model's bones. I think this might be a bigger problem with the game itself (though honestly, I'm not sure).

**Q: Why do some hats wear molds while others don't? **

A: The modifications I made appear to be incompatible with certain hats. This may be because some hats are more compatible with the base mask model without modification. In addition, you can try taking off the scarf, sometimes it solves the problem for some reason.

**Q: Can the hood be added back? **

A: I probably wouldn't. I tried the hooded version but it had no weight distribution at all. Also, that hood is so purple that I don’t think it goes with any outfit. I intentionally made this mod highly compatible with in-game hoods to compensate.

**Q: Do you make other poacher masks? **

A: I already made another one (the Stalker mask). There are two left and I may make another one.

**Q: Why did you choose to replace the legendary mask? Can I change it to another mask? **

A: The file directory is already mounted from my previous mod, so it is more convenient to update these files with the new model for this mod. I probably wouldn't change it to replace other masks or head costumes, mainly because there aren't many head costume items in the game that aren't randomly obtained.

**Q: Can you make *a random clothing mod*? **

A: I've stopped making mods for this game, so no.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
