PC exclusive extended adjustable shortcut bar
🎮 **As PC players, we should not be limited by shortcomings such as insufficient buttons on the controller. ** The game's spell-based combat is designed with combos in mind, making combat both spectacular and efficient when you're able to make the most of everything at hand. The original equipment system was incompatible with this combat philosophy, as it was extremely limited and even required the player to switch back and forth between utility spells and combat spells to remain efficient - because there simply weren't enough slots (or the player got bored and just stuck with their favorite 4 spells). Additionally, the item wheel shares the mechanics of long press and tap to select/use, which is a nightmare for PC.
✨ **This mod adds a new, fully configurable interface for managing and using spells and items:**
- **Four hotbars**, each can hold **twelve items**.
- You can put in **spells, potions, broomsticks** and more.
- You can **mix and match** all of them.
- The **size and position** of the hotbar can be fully adjusted** via the in-game **drag and drop interface.

🛠️ Prerequisites
This mod requires **Blueprint Apparate Modloader**.
🎮Default control
- **Num /**: Switch the shortcut bar on/off
- **Num ***: Enter the equipment editor
- **F1-F4, mouse wheel**: switch equipment configuration
- **1-0, -, =**: Cast spells/use items
*(You can change all of these buttons in the in-game control menu (spells section))*
In the rig editor:
- Use **Left Click** to drag spells/items.
- **Double click** to clear a slot.
- **right click** or **Esc** to close the menu.
To set the hotbar position, enter the equipment editor and click the corresponding entry in the upper right corner.
⚠️ Known issues
- Menu entry not translated (in process).
- Cursor shape not changing correctly when hovering over items (work in progress).
- Key icons in some spell descriptions are missing (work in progress).
- After replacing the current mount (broomstick, etc.) in the inventory, you need to **realocate** the mount slot on the shortcut bar (it may be automated later).
- Under certain conditions, the hotbar **might** refuse to hide or **might** suddenly disappear - we tested gameplay, dialogue, and cutscenes, but may have missed some cases (we're only two people, no QA department), so please keep an eye out for these cases and report them if they happen.
- If some of the keys you assigned to the hotbar don't appear properly - please report them. We have tested QWERTY and AZERTY in basic settings, but obviously cannot cover all possible scenarios.
- If certain spells (such as Room of Requirement related) do not work as expected in the new hotbar, please **re-enable vanilla shortcuts** and cast those spells using the vanilla hotbar while we fix the issue.
📥 Installation
- Unzip `SpellCastingMod.7z` and copy the `.pak`, `.ucas`, `.utoc` files to:
`Path-To-SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods`
- Add the new binding in `inputs.txt` to:
`C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor\Input.ini`
Add between `[/Script/Engine.InputSettings]` and the first `ActionMappings` entry.
*(If your file is empty, it means you have never changed the vanilla input settings - in this case, just launch the game and unbind the vanilla caster inputs, as the mod does not require them, and this should populate the file)*
**⚠️ WARNING! ** The game stores the `Input.ini` file in the cloud, so you will get a save mismatch warning on launch - ** Choose a local copy, not a cloud copy! **

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
