Have you ever been driven crazy trying to find a specific named NPC (such as a student or professor)? The game itself doesn't provide any clues as to their location. In a real school, they might be in classrooms or the common room, but in the default Hogwarts Legacy, there are no regular classes, and NPCs mysteriously disappear at night. This mod was created to solve this problem! ✨

🛠️ Installation Guide

Manual installation is recommended to ensure stability (Vortex Manager sometimes handles Hogwarts Legacy mods poorly).

• **Download and unzip** the module file.
• **Copy Files**: Move the `.utoc`, `.ucas` and `.pak` files to your game Mod folder:

`Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\`

• **Install pre-mods**: Make sure you have installed the Blueprint Apparate Modloader.
• **Launch the game** and load the most recent save.
• **Activate Mod Loader**: Press the `F8` key to bring up the console.
• **Enter command**: Enter `NPCFinder` in the small window and press the `Enter` key.
• **Verify Activation**: If the word `NPCFinder` disappears and reappears below with an `X` next to it, the mod has been loaded successfully. If it's stuck at the top, you may have misplaced the file or have a Pakchunk conflict with another mod (check with the author's PakChunk Checker).
• **Done**: Press `F8` again to close the window.

**Note**: The above activation process only needs to be performed once, and then the module will automatically take effect.

🎮 How to use

Master these shortcut keys to easily find anyone:

• **Select Target**:
• Press `ALT+N` to cycle through **Next Student** (in alphabetical order).
• Press `CTRL+ALT+N` to cycle through **Next Faculty** (alphabetical order).
• Stop pressing keys when you find the person you are looking for.
• **Follow the path**:
• Follow the track on the minimap, or press `V` to show the path on screen.
• **Reposition**:
• If you reach the end of the path but the NPC is not there (because they moved), press `ALT+F` to reposition the same NPC.
• Press `V` again to see the new path. If you are very close, you will see a golden flash at the NPC's location.
• **Cancel Search**:
• If you change your mind, press `CTRL+ALT+F` to cancel the current search.

⚙️ Custom key bindings

If you don't like the default keystrokes, you can easily change them:

• Make sure the module has been installed and the game has been run once (complete the F8 activation step).
• Close the game.
• Open the folder: `%localappdata%\Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor`
• Use Notepad to edit the `Input.ini` file.
• Search for `NPCFinder` and you will find entries similar to the following.
• Change the **green highlighted** parts (such as `True`/`False` and key letters) to the combination you want. For button names, please refer to the official list.
• Save the file and restart the game.

**Example configuration line (for reference modification):**

• **Path Update**: The path will be updated after the player moves.
• **"Missing" NPCs**: Some NPCs in the list may be marked as "missing" because they have no activity scheduled for the current game time/date.
