Mod Localization Checker
✨ **A smart gadget that helps you identify which Hogwarts Legacy modules need to be merged! **
---
🎯 Module Introduction
Have you ever been troubled by mod conflicts? Some mods need to be "merged" in order to work properly, especially those that modify the game's language files! This script is your right-hand assistant. It can automatically scan your `~mods` folder, find all `.pak` modules that contain `MAIN-enUS.bin` language files, and mark them in eye-catching **red**.
Simply put:
Some modules include the `PhoenixShipData.sqlite` database, some include the `MAIN-enUS.bin` language file, and some **both**. You need to merge all mods containing any of these files into a single `zMergedMods.pak` file using the **Hogwarts Mod Merger** tool.
📦 Installation Guide
- **Download the module**.
- Extract the `ModLocalizationChecker.bat` file and `MANIFEST` folder into your `~mods` folder.
- Typical path: `Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\`
- **Important**: Make sure the files are not unzipped into a deeper subfolder (e.g. `~mods\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\`). If misplaced, please move them to the correct `~mods` directory.
🚀 How to use (super simple!)
**Method 1 (easiest)**:
- Double-click `ModLocalizationChecker.bat` directly in File Explorer.
**Method 2 (Create shortcut)**:
- Hold down the `ALT` key and drag `ModLocalizationChecker.bat` from Explorer to the desktop.
- This will create a shortcut that you can rename as you like.
- Double-click the shortcut to run the script.
**Method Three (Command Line Master)**:
- Open command prompt (cmd).
- Use the `cd` command to switch to your `~mods` folder.
- Enter `ModLocalizationChecker.bat` and press Enter.
After running, the script will list all `.pak` files that need to be merged. Just like the picture below:
In the example above, there are three `.pak` files marked for merging. You need to move them out of the `~mods` folder and merge them into a `zMergedMods.pak` file using **Hogwarts Mod Merger**. Finally, when you run the game, you should have only this merged file in the `~mods` folder.
🗑️ How to uninstall
Simply delete the `ModLocalizationChecker.bat` file from your `~mods` folder.
**Note**: Unless you **have** not installed the author's Pak Chunk Checker or Mod Merger Checker mods, please **not** delete the `MANIFEST` folder to avoid affecting the normal operation of those mods.
⚠️ Known issues
- **Result Tip**: `pakchunk30(UETools) failed to unpack` - **No need to worry**. UETools does not contain the `MAIN-enUS.bin` file.
- This script **only** searches for `MAIN-enUS.bin` (English) language files, not other language files. This is because Hogwarts Mod Merger currently only supports merging English language files.

I hope this tool makes your mod management journey easier and more enjoyable! 🎮
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
