Merlin Trial Finder
🧙♂️ Module introduction
Are you tired of flying around the map casting the **Apparition Spell** just to find all the Merlin Trials?
Since the game itself doesn't have the ability to track trials, finding them all is a nightmare. This module can help you locate the most recent unfinished Trial of Merlin and plan a path for you on the map. Now you can quickly find and complete all trials, unlocking additional loot slots!

🙏 Special thanks
Thanks to iouldifiwantedto for his help with this mod and for writing the Field Guide Page Finder, Collection Chest Finder, and Demiguise Finder mods on which this mod is based.

⚠️ About completed trials
While I'm not sure if this will happen, if you're directed to a trial that's **already completed**, you can use **Shift-F10** to tell the mod to ignore it.
**Please be 100% sure that you have received the reward for this trial, because this operation cannot be undone at present! **

📦 Installation Guide
You can use Vortex to auto-install, but it may not be stable when working with Hogwarts Legacy mods:
- Download and extract the `zKA-MerlinTrialFinder-11102_P.zip` file to your `Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods` folder.
- If the `~mods` folder does not exist, you need to create it manually.
- Install the Blueprint Apparate Modloader if it is not already installed.
- Launch Hogwarts Legacy and load your most recent save.
- Press the **F8** key, type `KA-MerlinTrialFinder` and press Enter.
- If `KA-MerlinTrialFinder` remains on the top row, then either:
- a) `.utoc`, `.ucas` and `.pak` files were placed in the wrong folder.
- b) One of your existing modules already occupies pakchunk 11102 (you can use PakChunk Checker to check for conflicts).
---
🎮 How to use
- Deselect any ongoing tasks.
- Press the **F10** key and follow the path.
- If you change your mind and no longer want to search for this trial, you can cancel it by pressing **Alt-F10**.
---
⌨️Default key bindings
By default, this mod uses the following buttons:
- **F10** = Find the nearest unfinished Trial of Merlin
- **Alt-F10** = Cancel search
- **Shift-F10** = Mark current trial as completed
---
🔧 Custom key bindings
You can modify the key bindings to any key you like by following these steps:
- Go to your `Hogwarts Legacy\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor` folder and edit the `Input.ini` file.
- Search for `KA-Trial` and change the green key code to the key you want (key names can be found here).
- Restart the game.
---
🗑️ How to uninstall
- **MANUAL INSTALL**: Remove the `.utoc`, `.ucas` and `.pak` files of `zKA-MerlinTrialFinder-11102_P` from the `~mods` folder.
- **Install via Vortex**: Disable or uninstall it in Vortex, but then also check that the `~mods` folder has been cleared of related files.

⚔️ Conflicts and Known Issues
- **CONFLICT**: This mod uses pakchunk 11102. If a conflict occurs, you can use the Chunk ID Conflict Manager to fix it.
- **Known Issues**:
- If you select a mission, the path may randomly switch from Merlin's Trials back to your mission. This is a bug in the game itself.
- If you ride on the broom, the path will disappear. This is a "feature" of the game and currently cannot be disabled. The solution is to manually place a purple "signpost" near the trial location and follow it.
- You can only search for Merlin's Trial in the "surface" area (that is, not in internal areas such as dungeons and ancient magic trials).
- The "finder" mod written by iouldifiwantedto was not originally designed to be installed simultaneously. If you use multiple finder mods at the same time, in some cases they may compete for control of the minimap path, causing the path to not display in the game. This issue is being studied and resolved. In the meantime, please try to avoid quickly switching between different mods or giving up the search continuously.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
