Hogwarts HUD Toggler
🎮 **Hide with one click and capture the magic moment! **
As a player who loves playing games on Steam and taking screenshots to record adventures, I found it very annoying that Hogwarts Legacy doesn’t have a hotkey to hide the entire HUD interface with one click. So, I made this mod to solve this problem!
✨ Module function
The main function of this mod is to turn off the game HUD via a configurable key combination (default is `F9`), allowing you to easily take screenshots and reactivate the HUD instantly.
- 🖼️ **Perfect Screenshot**: Hide all interface elements and capture pure game footage.
- ⚙️ **Smart Preservation**: The mod will only affect the "Subtitles" game setting. Any adjustments you make to the HUD through the User Interface settings will be retained when the HUD is turned on.
- 🔄 **Quick Switch**: One-click on/off, simple and fast operation.
⚠️ **NOTE**: Sometimes the game will activate or deactivate the HUD on its own, and you may need to press the hotkey a few more times to get back to the desired state.

📥 Standalone version installation guide
**Mod Manager Installation**
- Go to the module's Documentation page.
- Under "Main Files," click the **Mod Manager Download** button for the latest file version.
- Done! If you want to change the hotkey (default F9), check out the **Hotkey Customization** section below.
**Manual installation**
- Find the root directory of the game. For example: `C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\`
- Enter the deeper directory: `\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64\`
- Place the three files `xinput1_3.dll`, `HogwartsHudToggler.dll` and `HogwartsHudToggler.ini` into this directory.
- Done! You can then launch the game, load a save (or start a new game), and press `F9` to toggle the in-game HUD on/off.

⚙️ Configuration and Customization
**How to keep subtitles enabled**
Since the mod was originally designed for screenshots, it disables subtitles along with the HUD by default. But you can change this setting in the `HogwartsHudToggler.ini` file.
Simply open the `HogwartsHudToggler.ini` file and change `hideSubtitles=1` to **`hideSubtitles=0`**.
**Hotkey Customization**
You can change the default hotkey F9 to any input supported by Unreal Engine! You can change hotkeys or create key combinations to toggle the HUD in the `HogwartsHudToggler.ini` file.
**Edit `HogwartsHudToggler.ini`**
Under the `[hud-toggle]` section you will find the following key=value pairs: `key`, `modifier_key1`, `modifier_key2` and `modifier_key3`.
- `key`: is the main hotkey, the key combination must end with this button.
- `modifier keys`: are the modifier keys that you need to hold down before pressing the main hotkey `key`.
**List of valid key names**:
- List of button names
- EKeys constants (updated)
**Example**:
If you want to use the key combination `CTRL+ALT+H` to toggle the HUD, the ini file should be set up as follows:
```ini
[hud-toggle]
key=H
modifier_key1=LeftControl
modifier_key2=LeftAlt
modifier_key3=
```
You can also bind controller input, but you'll need to figure out which button name corresponds to which key on your controller. I recommend asking chat.openai for help.
At the moment all I can say is, on the Xbox controller:
- X key: `Gamepad_FaceButton_Left`
- Y key: `Gamepad_FaceButton_Top`
- B key: `Gamepad_FaceButton_Right`
- A key: `Gamepad_FaceButton_Bottom`

🔄 Other information
**Alternative installation method**
You can use any DLL injector to inject `HogwartsHudToggler.dll` into your game at any time.
But if you want to change any default settings, you still need to put the ini file into the `(game root directory)\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64\` directory.
**Manual Uninstall**
Just delete the `xinput1_3.dll`, `HogwartsHudToggler.dll` and `HogwartsHudToggler.ini` files from the `(game root directory)\Phoenix\Binarie …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
