Harder Mode(s)
✨ **Create your own hardcore challenge! ** ✨
Hello!
I created this collection of mods to provide a more challenging gaming experience for Hogwarts Legacy.
The base mod directly increases enemy damage and health, while the optional files include some more subtle tweaks that work well with Hardmode so you don't feel overpowered. **Simply put, you have many options! **
---
🎯 Core and optional difficulty adjustments
**Basic Mode (Original Adjustment)**
- **Increase enemy damage/health**: Provides multiple increase options such as +25%, +50%, +100%, +200%, +300%, etc. for you to choose.
💡 **Tip**: You **don't** need** to install base mode to use the optional files, all files are standalone (or can be merged via Mod Merger).
**Optional files and other difficulty mods**
- **Higher Purchase Price**
- **Weakened Beast**: Reduces by-product output and makes it more difficult to capture.
- **Weakened Disguise (Stealth)**: Now only lasts 30 seconds and has a 15 second cooldown.
- **Weakening Curse**: Increase the cooldown time, shorten the duration, and increase the level required to upgrade.
- **Weakened Plants**: Reduces the number of combat plants in the inventory and increases their growth time.
- **Increase Moon Stone Consumption**: The cost of moon stones for necessities (non-decorations) becomes 3 times, and the time required for moon stone generator becomes 4 times.
- **Reduce the potion slot** (**strongly recommended** to make the battle more exciting).
- **Potion crafting requires more materials** (making all those crafting materials more useful).
⚠️ **WARNING**: It is recommended to use this file after completing your first Potions lesson, otherwise you may not have enough materials.
- **Extend the jumping pot time to 1 hour** (Originally getting 3 random potions every 12 minutes is too strong, it forces you to actually collect materials to make it).
- **Increase the maximum NPC level limit to 40** (**difficult to completely verify**, there are feedback that it seems to be valid, but it is not necessarily level 40, it may be close to level 39).
- **Add more enemies**
- **The ancient magic finishing move has a 30-second cooldown on the boss** (**untested**, needs feedback).
- **Reduced experience** (required experience increases with each level).
⚠️ **WARNING**: There is feedback that this will retroactively lower your current level, but your purchased talents will remain. Removing the mod correctly restores the initial level.
- **Equipment Rarity Balance**: Make legendary equipment very rare, re-add base (grey) equipment, and add some pickup items for variety.
**From my other mods (highly recommended)**
- No life recovery outside of combat
- Ancient magic deals less damage (I decided that was enough when I nearly killed the boss with a red health bar in one hit).
**Optional file for balancing difficulty**
- Adds a 5 or 10 second cooldown (your choice) to enemy armor protection, available on Hardmode (default is 0 cooldown).
**Other People’s Mods**
- Check out Accio Masochism, it uses a similar idea of difficulty breakdown options and is certainly much more content than my version now :)

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
