✨ Module Introduction

Let’s face it, spiders are literally everywhere in Hogwarts Legacy! 😱 While I'm not usually afraid of spiders, these guys in the game are just **scary** and not that fun to fight.

This simple mod aims to **dramatically reduce** the number of spiders (and those disgusting spider "egg sacs"... ugh!) in the game. You will still encounter them in spider lairs and in certain missions, but at the 84 wild spawn spots, spiders will no longer appear. 🕷️➡️👨‍🔮

**Version evolution:**

• **Version 1.0.0a**: Spiders no longer spawn at all in the wild.
• **Version 2.0.0+**: A better solution - spiders in the wild will be replaced with **Dark Wizard**, and spider egg sacs will be replaced with **Dark Wolf**. Better combat experience!

**PLEASE NOTE**: The official game patch of May 4, 2023 introduced "Arachnophobia Mode" (in "Accessibility" in the game settings). You can try, but I personally feel that the "less scary variants" are still **super weird** and of limited help to true arachnophobes.

🛠️ Installation Guide

**Recommended method:**

• Click the **"Vortex"** or **"Mod Manager Download"** button on the page for automatic installation.

**Manual installation (alternative):**

• Manually download the ZIP file.
• Unzip the **.pak** file.
• Place it into the following directory:

`Steam\steamapps\common\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\`

• If the `~mods` folder does not exist, create it manually.

❌ How to uninstall

**Install via Vortex:**

• Click the **"Remove"** button of the module in Vortex.
• **Important! ** Please then check the folder `Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods\` to make sure there is no folder with a name similar to `XXX-FewerSpiders_v?_?_?` (XXX is a three-letter prefix depending on the number of mods you have installed). If present, please **manually delete it**. Vortex sometimes misses and the residual folder means the mod is still active.

**Manual installation:**

• Just delete the **FewerSpiders.pak** file directly from the `~mods` folder.

⚠️ Compatibility and conflicts

This module modifies and replaces the core file of the game `PhoenixShipData.sqlite` (SQL database).

• **Potential Conflict**: If you install other mods that also modify the game's SQL data, conflicts may occur.
• **Solution**: Use the powerful **Mod Merger Tool**! It can intelligently merge the changes made to the database by multiple mods and generate a merged .pak file. Just follow the instructions within the tool.
• **Tips**: If you're curious about what SQL data my mod specifically modified, just load it with Mod Merger and you'll see a detailed list of changes. 🔍

🔗 Related modules

If you want to **completely eliminate** the remaining spiders (like those in the quest) that my mod couldn't handle, you can try these two "Arachnophobia" mods:

• **Arachnophobia mode**: Turns **all spiders into boxes**. 📦
• **No spiders**: Replace all spiders (including pictures on logos and items) with **Angry Burger**. Yes, it's true! 🍔

**Note to players of historical versions**: If you are running an old version of the game before May 4, 2023, the standard version mod will cause the game to crash. You need a special version. Please install **"FebVersion"** in the "Other Files" section of the Files tab.
