🧭 Overview

For a stronger sense of immersion, say goodbye to the minimap! This is a brand new UI component that adds a compass with dynamic markers on the screen.

✨ Features

  • **Fully Customizable**: Adjustable color, transparency and scaling.
  • **Mark switch**: Mark display can be turned on or off at any time.
  • **Key Remapping**: Can rebind shortcut keys for switches and options menus.
  • **Dynamic Hiding**: Like other HUD elements, it will automatically hide in certain scenarios.

📥 Installation Guide

  • Extract the contents of the compressed package to the `Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks` folder.
  • Download and install **Blueprint Apparate Modloader**.
  • Press **F8** to open the BP Apparate menu and enter the command: `CompassMod`.
**Note**: In my compressed package, the module files are in the `mods` folder. You can also change it to `~mods` according to your needs. This will work fine as long as the folder is in the `Paks` directory.

🎮 How to use

  • Press the **B** key to turn the compass on and off.
  • Press the **F7** key to open the options menu.
  • The above buttons can be changed in the menu.

All changes are automatically saved when you close the options menu, eliminating the need to reset each time you launch the game. 😊

**Tip**: After changing the menu shortcut key, the new key will take effect immediately. You can directly use the new key to close the menu and save it.
**Note for controller players**: You can map a button on the controller (such as sharing/touchpad click) to the corresponding keyboard button through Steam controller layout editing.

🎨 Make skin

If you are a modder, you can edit the following textures in the `z_CompassModTextures_P.pak` file to create skins:

  • Compass_Band.png
  • Compass_Pointer.png
  • ActiveMission.png
  • WayMarker.png

**IMPORTANT NOTE**:

  • Make sure the PNG image is saved in 8-bit color, otherwise the colors seen in the editor and in the game may be different.
  • If you want the RGB color customization function to work properly, please make the "Compass Ring" and "Pointer" as grayscale images.
  • Of course, you can also use your own color matching and white tint, but the user needs to be informed to adjust the RGB sliders accordingly.

🔢 File block

  • **Compass Logic**: Block 137
  • **Compass Texture**: Block 138

🔮 Future update plan

Currently, the compass can only display current missions and custom markers set by players on the map. In the future I plan to have it show nearby resources, enemies, and points of interest as well. This is a very complex task, so please don't expect updates too soon.

⚠️ Known issues

  • **Some quests not showing**: Some quests may not appear on the compass because the developers forgot to mark them correctly. I'm looking into alternative ways of finding the locations of these tasks.
  • **Multi-marker missions**: Missions with multiple markers will only show a single point on the compass. I'm working on fixing this.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
