Better controller movement
🎮 Hey fellow wizards and witches! Are you tired of your character going from a slow walk to a sprint in Hogwarts Legacy when you use a controller? This mod is just for you!
✨ Feature Highlights
I've adjusted the movement curve so your character now has a more nuanced and natural progression of movement speed:
- **Slow walking** (very slight)
- **Walking** (minor)
- **Go quickly**
- **Jogging**
- **Run** (press the sprint button when the joystick is pushed to the **bottom**)
- **Sprint** (press the sprint button when the joystick is **not pushed all the way**)
💡 **Tips**: The behavior of running and sprinting was not originally designed, but I think this unexpected effect is pretty good! After all, there aren't many scenes in the game that require all-out sprinting.
📜 Update log
Version 1.3
- Adjusted structure to be compatible with Vortex mod manager.
Version 1.2
- A lighter version with fewer LUA errors.
- The file now contains `enabled.txt`, no need to modify `mods.txt`.
Version 1.1a
- Slightly re-increased animation speed for going up stairs/slopes as it felt less fluid on slopes.
Version 1.1
- Reduced stair/slope speeds (*going uphill is slower than on flat ground, going downhill is about the same or faster on stairs*).
- Smoother transition to jog (*reduced feeling of speeding up then slowing down*).
- Can now walk faster in areas restricted to walking (such as inside rooms).
⚠️ **PLEASE NOTE**: I cannot slow down the animation speed any further. Speed is tied to the animation, and any lower value will make the action look like slow motion, or make the ramp experience worse because the developer is using the same animation base but at different angles. The animation of starting a jog also causes a camera freeze/stuttering feeling. Stairs/ramp speeds have been reduced by approximately 10%.
Version 1.0
*Basic version, only the curve of jogging mode has been modified.
🛠️ Installation Guide
- Download UE4SS.
- Extract its contents next to the executable file: `~\Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Binaries\Win64\HogwartsLegacy.exe`.
- It should look like this (*Edit: excluding the imgui.ini and ue4ss.logs generated later. You don't need all the original files in the UE4SS archive and can remove the default module*).
- Go into the `Mods` folder and delete all contents.
- Extract the contents of this module’s compressed package to the game root directory: `~\Hogwarts Legacy`.
- **OPTIONAL**: I recommend setting the vertical scale to 90 in Steam => Controller Layout => Left Stick => so that you need to push the stick further to start jogging. This is a setting based on the Dualsense controller, you can change it back to 100 if you don't like it, it's a bit of a personal preference.
⚠️ Known limitations
When you follow an NPC for a quest, they can only walk or trot. So if you use brisk walking or jogging, it will cause them to run and wait for you. In these scenes, either walk normally or run quickly using the joystick to push it all the way and press the sprint button.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
