Beards and more

🎩 **Make your wizard look as mature as he acts! **

Tired of those scarring options? Want to add some facial hair to your wizard character to make him look more intelligent or rugged? This mod is exactly what you need! It replaces the original scar options with various handsome beards owned by NPCs in the game.

✨ Module Features

  • **Pure Data Editing**: No need to replace the grid model, safe and stable.
  • **Fully Animated**: Naturally dynamic using the original "beard" system of NPC character attachments.
  • **Auto Color Match**: Beard color will match your hair color.
  • **Three Style Packs**: Covers all options available in the game's facial hair asset folder.
  • **Style Pack 1 & 2**: Contains all major beard styles in the game. Some styles include additional brow grids and may be used with the "no brows" option.
  • **Style Pack 3**: Contains most beard options that do not come with eyebrow meshes.

🛠️ Installation Guide

  • **Choose your favorite beard bag**.
  • Extract the compressed package to the `Hogwarts Legacy\Phoenix\Content\Paks\~mods` folder.
  • If you have installed v1.0 version before, please remove the old `BeardScars_Gr*_P` file first.
  • Create a new character, or go to Hogsmeade to give your character a "makeover"!

⚠️ Known issues

  • **Fit Issues**: Some beard options may not fit certain face shapes perfectly. This is because they were originally designed for specific NPC models, not player character faces.
  • **Color Sync Delay**: Beard color may not match hair color immediately. Switching hair color once and back often resolves this issue, as "beard color" is not the player character's default value.

🔄 Compatibility Notes

  • **Male characters only**.
  • **Potential Conflict**: There may be conflicts with mods that modify the same data chunk (Chunk 140).
  • **INCOMPATIBILITY**: Not compatible with mods that modify **Male Scars** or **Male Hair Color** (whiskers may revert to default color when using hair color modifying mods).
  • **Compatible**: Mods that replace the referenced facial hair mesh model should work fine.

❓ FAQ

**Q: Can you add such-and-such beard style from such-and-such character? **

A: Since I am currently only editing data and not modifying the mesh model, I cannot add these additional options at the moment. Previous attempts have resulted in the game crashing.

**Q: Can you remove the eyebrows from styles that come with eyebrows? **

A: Same as above, currently cannot be done.

**Q: Can beard color be made independent of hair color? **

A: Within the limitations of the default game UI, I can only "borrow" hair, eye, and eyebrow color options. If in the future it turns out that eyebrows have the same color value as hair, I might make a version based on the eyebrow color.

💡 **Usage Tips**: Certain beard styles may work better with the "no brows" option! Go and create a unique wizard image in your mind!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
