🎮 **Easily edit your Hogwarts Legacy saves! ** This graphical interface tool allows you to say goodbye to cumbersome command line operations.
✨ Tool Introduction
I plan to revisit "Hogwarts Legacy" this Christmas, so I made this GUI tool. It has been tested under Windows 10 and Python 3.14.2 environments.
⚠️ **Important: Please back up your save file before proceeding! **
📦 Preparation
To use this GUI, you need to prepare the following files:
- Hogwarts Legacy Save Game Editor
- Hogwarts Legacy Save Tool
- Python 3.14.2 or higher
- oo2core_9_win64.dll
Place all the files in the same folder (as shown in the screenshot) and double-click the file named `hlst_gui.pyw` to launch it. You never have to type commands into CMD or PowerShell again!
The `hlst_gui.pyw` file can also be opened with Notepad. The source code is posted on my GitHub.
🎯 Detailed explanation of function buttons
**RENAME**
Rename `YOUR_SAVE.sav` to `YOUR_SAVE.orig`.
**DECOMPRESS (decompression)**
Launch PowerShell and run the command: `hlsaves.exe -d YOUR_SAVE.orig YOUR_SAVE.decomp`.
**LAUNCH THE EDITOR**
Open the Hogwarts Legacy Save Game Editor in your default browser.
**IMPORTANT**: After editing in the browser, you still need to manually download the archive file as `YOUR_SAVE.edited`.
**COMPRESS**
Start PowerShell again and run the command: `hlsaves.exe -c YOUR_SAVE.edited YOUR_SAVE.sav`.
**Note**: If you are using HLSGE 1.7.2-ALPHA version, you need to manually rename `hlse-1.7.2-ALPHA.html` to `hlse.html`.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
