Midnight Arms SOR-22 Precision Rifle

5 variants of the Midnight Arms SOR-22, including two custom "Iconic" variants, the NUSA-SD & the Maelstrom's Havok.

Nicknamed "The Elephant" by soldiers on both sides of the Metal Wars, the SOR-22 is an awkwardly angular and heavy semi-automatic marksman rifle chambered in.338 Lapua. Sold exclusively for military use, with only a few shipments slipping onto the black market, it’s a rare and ominous presence in the streets of Night City, sightings of which often herald trouble. Designed for soldiers enhanced with muscle weaves or reinforced endoskeletons, the SOR-22 prioritizes stopping power and reliability over user comfort. Without the proper chrome, wielding this beast for too long can be almost as punishing to the shooter as it is to their targets.

The SOR-22 also saw limited use by NUSA field agents, most typically seen in use by vehicle & asset protection teams. The included white NUSA variant is a government contracted model specifically for NUSA agents. Featuring a bespoke, integrated suppressor designed by Midnight Arms specifically for this model. However, the suppressor prevents the barrel from being able to reciprocate, delivering more felt recoil to the user.

One of these black-market units ended up in the hands of a Maelstromer, and given the nickname "Havok." This heavily modified variant transforms fired cartridges into red-hot shrapnel as they travel through the barrel, capable of damaging through light to medium armor and even rarely igniting targets. However, the projectiles are slow and unstable, resulting in a very wide spread, drastically reduced effective range, and is almost entirely defeated by armor plates. While the Havok is devastating at close range, its performance drops sharply at even medium distances.
