Drive V (realistic driving/car handling and damage + full DLC support

Installation method: oiv one-click installation. Use the three file packages in the openiv folder to directly install oiv with one click.

Drive V is the result of 5 years and over 2,000 hours of studying physics systems and testing to create a realistic and fun experience. Each car is unique (even some variants that originally shared the same handling lines), and careful attention has been paid to every dynamic attribute. The most critical change I feel is needed is the Z-axis rotation, which makes the vanilla car feel so harsh every time the steering wheel is turned. Heavy and older vehicles now have a realistic delay between steering input and the car's reaction, making the Emperor as sloppy as a '70s Cadillac and making semi-trucks feel like you're driving a giant rig. You'll also notice that vehicles like the Emperor have very soft suspension and more body roll (but not cartoony GTAIV levels of roll). An example of attention to detail: taxis have less steering precision and braking performance than police models, reflecting wear and tear because taxis are often driven hard at high mileage. The Police variant gets a power boost and improved handling to reflect the Police package's upgrades, but still feels like a heavy Crown Victoria prone to oversteer, while the Interceptor feels like a more modern car.

Power levels and acceleration have been adjusted to match the vehicle's real-world counterpart to calculate net SAE horsepower ratings for vintage muscle cars using a different rating scale (SAE Gross Power) to determine true real-world power output. Off-road traction has been overhauled for realism. Damage/deformation has been increased to realistic levels, similar to GTAIV. Downforce has been removed from everything but supercars that actually generate downforce. Finally, many of the cars in the original game had unusually low ride heights, so they were raised to reflect the ride heights of their real-world counterparts.

feature:

  • No more getting stuck on curbs
  • Enable cabin deformation
  • IV-like morph levels
  • Disable downforce on all vehicles except supercars
  • Zoom maximum speed
  • Redesigned off-road surfaces
  • Added a lot of custom vehicles
  • WOV support

New in 6.0: Added support for Tuners DLC, with new finishes based on the actual colors offered by each car's real-world counterpart (this is a teaser and will be expanded to more DLC in the future). Another trailer that's only available for the Tuners DLC is the revised engine upgrade: underpowered cars like the Futo and Remus get a more significant power boost. Added the World of Variety patch (big thanks to LDNENG), please make sure you use an updated game configuration as the current version of WOV contains an older version. The car suddenly stopped on the side of the road/came to a sudden stop. Tons of custom cars added to existing spawn points and gangs around the map. These have been carefully thought out, for example, classic movie cars spawn in a movie studio parking lot, rally cars and off-road vehicles can be found on dirt roads, etc. Patriot limousines are now built with tinted windows. There are also some rare modified police cruisers and limousines. TR3 (yacht trailer from parent/child mission) handles fixing and adding to traffic. New color options for some base game vehicles (Dominator, Rancher XL, Tornado, Buffalo, Patriot, Bullet, Primo, etc.). There are so many different shades of silver in the vanilla color options for each car, so now the colors of the traffic are even more diverse. The taxis are now all yellow, and just for fun I added a pearlescent blue accent to the police car. Taxi and Police Stainers now have amber flashing lights and parking lights. Fixed some cars that shouldn't have ABS. Added support for Financial Adventure and Felony DLC as well as next-gen exclusive vehicles (somehow these were missed before). And plenty of tweaks have been made to already suppo …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
