About this mod Machine translation

For you inner fanatics, I set up explosionfx.dat, firefx.dat and explosion.ymt like this:

  • RPG and vehicle explosions have greater force + greater explosion radius, and
  • These explosions emit flames that last for a long time and spread like wildfire. You may soon find yourself in the middle of a high-profile news story (just need to refuel as vehicles and people do) rather than letting the cowardly default flame die down.

v1.5: Oops - finding fuel levels reduced makes it fun. Did you notice how weak the fire was? This version fixes it. Also fixed a bug with RPG where the explosion radius was much smaller than expected. [Changing this is a trial and error thing as I can only guess at how each column affects the content. ]

v1.4: Fuel levels reduced so fires spread faster, look messier and less "gathered". Explosion damage is also greatly reduced; this goes three ways:

  • Assuming you have a series of vehicles in a line, blowing one vehicle upwards will no longer cause a sudden succession of vehicles to explode. Instead, nearby vehicles will be severely deformed and ignited, so a "chain reaction" occurs with a satisfying buildup.

•You will not take damage from standing nearby. You are abandoned by this force.

•Car chases are much better. The tanker chase scene in Terminator 2 didn't have the truck exploding when the Terminator fired a grenade on its engine, so why did this happen?

v1.3: Added .OIV installer. Suppress the force and radius of explosions to aid the chain reaction process (otherwise things would fly too far away from each other). Also included is my optional mod, Violence Redefined, which changes combatbehaviour.meta and realmtionships.dat to what I use.

v1.2: I re-modified explosionfx and firefx from scratch - didn't like the way the fire spread was evened out. Additionally, I imported my modified explosion.ymt file so the result is explosion carry power and radius at the end of them (rather than making you lose the default explosion damage/power).

Thanks to IIvELITEzX for Epic Explosions XX - I used his optional BIGGER explosions mod file as my base, and I fixed the indentation so the file should be easier to read.

For your inner pyromaniacs, I've set up the explosionfx.dat, firefx.dat and explosion.ymt such that:

  • RPG and vehicle explosions have more force + larger blast radius, and
  • These explosions emit fire that lasts very long and spreads out like wildfire. Instead of having wimpy default flames which fizzle out, you'll soon find yourself in the midst of a dramatic news report (just feed it fuel like vehicles and people).

v1.5: Oops - discovered that the reduced fuel level made it LESS fun. Have you noticed that the fire was sorta weak? This version fixes it. Also fixed a bug with the RPG where the explosion radius was much smaller than intended. [Making changes to this is a sort of trial-and-error affair, since I can only guess how the heck each column affects stuff.]

v1.4: Reduced fuel level so fires will spread faster and look more chaotic, less 'clumped'. Also greatly reduced damage of explosions; this works three-fold:

  • Say if you have a chain of vehicles in a line, blowing one car up won't result in a sudden cascade of exploding vehicles anymore. Instead, nearby vehicles will get heavily deformed and be set on fire, so the "chain reaction" happens with a satisfying buildup.
  • You don't get instagibbed from standing nearby. You get thrown around by the force.
  • Car chases are much better. That tanker chase scene in Terminator 2 didn't have the truck blow up when the Terminator launched a grenade at its engine, so why have that happen here?

v1.3: Added an.OIV installer. Curbed the force and radius of explosions to aid the chain reaction process (otherwise things would fly too far from one another). Also included an optional mod of mine, Violence Redefined which changes combatbehaviour.meta and realtionships.dat to what I use.

v1.2: I redid the changes to explosionfx and firefx …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
