About this mod Author’s original text
LetMeLook
A Grain Rot mod that removes the vertical camera clamp, so you can look straight
up and straight down. That's it!
What it does
Grain Rot limits how far you can tilt the camera, and it limits it even further
when you're crouched or sprinting. This mod simply changes that limit
to always be close to the max. (-89.9 down, 89.9 up)
It stops 0.1 degrees short of straight vertical, which is the engine's own
default. That last tenth of a degree is where a camera clamp stops being a clamp
and starts being a gimbal problem, however you can't actually see the difference
so for all purposes it is straight up and straight down.
The ragdoll, cutscene, soul sequence & emote cameras are deliberately left alone
because those clamps are there on purpose, so all of those shots still get framed
the way the game intended. Your character's body also still twists only as far as
it normally does, only the camera goes further.
This is a client-side mod, only you need it and only you are impacted by it.
AI usage disclosure and information
- This mod has been vibe-coded.
- This mod does not contain AI generated art.
- The Lua was written with an LLM (Claude), working to a spec I wrote and under
my direction.
- None of the game internals are guessed. Every class & property this mod
touches came straight out of the game's own header and object dumps, and all 3
of the camera clamps were measured in game with a read-only probe before any of
the real mod got written.
Credits
Camera internals mapped from the game's own header and object dumps. Thanks to
the RE-UE4SS project, and to the Grain Rot UE4SS overlay for the UE 5.7.4
signature work that makes any Lua mod possible on this build.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- Most mods rely on the game's mod loader — the usual route is a community mod manager (such as r2modman): pick this game, install, and it handles the loader and dependencies.
- For a manual install, put the mod files into the matching Mod / plugins folder inside the game directory.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; mods with listed dependencies need those installed as well.
Install locations vary a lot between mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
Install these first, or the mod will not work:
