Wizard Style Double Rifle Recoil

Mod description:

A very simple mod that adds dual rifle holsters that can be worn on the character's back. There are two different dual rifle holsters, each consisting of two separate holsters, with one holster containing a static rifle so it appears you are always carrying the rifle even if you draw the sidearm. I never liked the way the weapons on the back disappeared when you pulled out the side weapons. I'm not a scripter so mods like HERK or making the last used rifle appear on the mod or a hotkey weapon appearing on your back are beyond my capabilities, so I thought I'd find a simple solution instead.

In a nutshell, this mod adds a simple static holster for your current rifle (because the rifle doesn't just stick to your back when you let it go), and provides separate holsters for static rifles (hunting, cowboy repeater, mint or ballistic - the material depends on which one you want to use). When equipped with a rifle, you will have two rifles in two separate holsters (similar to how Geralt from The Witcher series has two weapons on his back, hence the mod's name, except that Geralt has two swords instead of guns). When you switch to the sidearm, you can use a cool rifle, giving your character a sweet geared look.

These holsters occupy backpack slots and provide a small carrying weight bonus depending on the model you equip.

I originally made this for myself but some users asked me to share it so I thought I would. I thought it would look cool to have a rifle holster and always have a rifle on the character's back. Anyway, I hope you guys like it.

This is a very simple mod. In short, it's a simple static mesh on the back of the character, but it gets the job done, and for me at least, it's always better than nothing. Since it's simple, it also won't break your game or cause script bloat or anything like that.

How to get participants:

is a very basic and standard variant that you can buy from Chet in the Goodsprings store, which comes with a varmint rifle. The price of the holster is 50 caps (flat price in GECK). Actual price will depend on your bartering skills. It acts as a backpack and provides a small carrying weight bonus (25). A variant with a denim repeater can be purchased from Johnson Nash at Primm (offering a 30 carry weight and 75 block bonus). As of Update 0.3a, holsters with hunting rifles will be sold by Cliff Broscoe in Novac (carry weight bonus 35, price 100 grains).

The one with the anti-material rifle can be purchased from Protectron, the Gun Runner HQ vendor at Gun Runners HQ. This will cost 125 caps and provide a carry weight bonus of 40.

All holsters can be repaired using leather armor.

Future plans:

Maybe some balance adjustments will be made if people think they're too powerful. Due to the large number of weapons and changes in the game, I doubt I'll accept the request. Plus, my UL overhaul has taken up most of my free time.

compatibility:

Should be compatible with everything as it will only add, not change any original records outside of the manifest. Just remember to wear a tattered patch and if they don't show up, wait in an internal unit until inventory is updated and the holster should be there.

bed bugs:

Not yet, but there will be some clipping of the armor, that's inevitable and there's nothing that can be done about it. The holster also floats when using a female character because it doesn't touch the character's back. Again, moving the holster closer to the female character's grid because the rifle is already floating on the female character will cause the gun to float because the gun will remain in the same position relative to the holster. I don't play female characters either, so this isn't a big issue for me. If anyone wants to fix it please let me know and I will upload the f …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
