The New Vegas Scripting Extension, or NVSE for short, is a modder resource that extends the scripting capabilities of Fallout: NV. It does this without modifying the executable on disk, so there are no permanent side effects.
Installation (manual)
Download xNVSE from the Files tab.
Extract all files in the top-level folder in the ZIP to the game folder (the folder where FalloutNV.exe is located).
Use nvse_loader.exe to run the game.
To confirm that it is working, use the tilde (') key to open the console and type GetNVSEVersion. This will display the version number of the current NVSE build.
Install using Vortex
Click the "Swirl" button in the upper right corner of this page.
Once installed and enabled, make sure you have deployed it by clicking "Deploy Mods" on the Mods toolbar.
Launch the game in NVSE using the shortcut on the dashboard.
Once you have NVSE installed, you can use Vortex to install mods.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
