About this mod Machine translation

Tool for locating factory bottlenecks with zero runtime overhead and instant response to status changes.

Bottleneck Lite helps you find bottlenecks in your plant. It's inspired by the Bottleneck mod, but takes advantage of newer API features to remove all runtime overhead and improve responsiveness.

feature

Bottleneck Lite adds "metrics" to each crafting machine and mining machine, allowing you to quickly determine its status.

The lights will be colored according to these states:

Disabled (red)

Full output (yellow)

Idle (red)

Insufficient input (red)

Low battery (yellow)

No resources to mine (red)

No power (red)

work(green)

Colors can be customized in the settings menu. In addition to green, red, and yellow, you can change the color to cyan, blue, purple, white, or "off" (which hides the indicator for that status). Other settings include indicator size, whether they will glow in the dark, and whether they will be drawn on mining rigs.

NOTE: Due to the way the mod works, all settings are under a tab in the Startupmod settings menu and any changes will require a restart of Factorio to take effect.

compared to bottleneck

Compared to Bottleneck, Bottleneck Lite has no runtime scripts. Indicators are added to the actual sprite for each entity and colored according to the job visualization properties. This means Bottleneck Lite is infinitely scalable and will respond immediately to changes in entity state, no matter how many entities there are.

advantage

Zero runtime overhead

Instant response regardless of scale

Indicator lights can glow in the dark

Significantly less setup (some may think this is a scam)

shortcoming

Changing settings requires restarting Factorio

No hotkeys to toggle indicators - enabling/disabling them is a setting, so a reboot is required

Only one indicator style (no Alert, Cross, Stop, Minus or 3D variants)

Laboratory has no indicators

compatibility

For mod authors - if you for some reason don't want to show an indicator on your entity, add bottleneck_ignore=true to its prototype and BNL will ignore it.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
