Military Guard - Byzantine Army Reworked

军事护卫——拜占庭军队重制

About this mod Machine translation

Praecepta Militaria is an alternative history remake of the Byzantine state, giving players the opportunity to reshape their destiny against the backdrop of the chaos and growing threats of the late feudal period and beyond.

This mod aims to address the lack of flavor and meaningful options for players in rebuilding the Byzantine military system by introducing new government reforms, laws, manorial privileges, IOs, buildings, units, situations, and events that are derived from both the actual history of the Byzantine Empire and some speculative historical fiction. In some ways, this made the start of the Byzantine campaign more difficult, but who doesn't like a challenge?

NOTE: While changes and additions are intended to maintain compatibility with vanilla gameplay and other mods, please note that some high-impact changes are still under ongoing testing and should not be considered "balanced". Most of the work is focused on early gameplay (Legacy Age -> Discovery Age).

The overall intention is to encourage players to build military infrastructure as a complement to their interactions with territories, in order to increase the size, quality and composition of their armies and gain control over imperial territory. The original game restricted many of the most meaningful options to later eras, when the initial conditions for Byzantium were no longer relevant. This mod should give players more goals early in the game.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
