Subtle cartoon rendering mimics ambient occlusion
✨ **Brings a unique visual style to Elden Circle** ✨
🌟 Module Features
This Reshade is not "Borderlands" style! It might remind you of old movie posters or hyper-realistic Western comics.
**Why choose this particular technology? **
- I like Reshade which deepens the environment shadows... great for watching movies, but can't see the environment at all and can't enjoy exploring and picking up items
- I would prefer improved ambient occlusion to get a sense of depth
- Observe curbs, corners, arches, grass, shrubs, trees and distant rocky mountains
- Although it is fake ambient occlusion, it deceives my eyes
- This Reshade makes the walls/pillars look dirtier and more realistic
🎨 Three versions to choose from
- **ER-AO-Cel_Shading_1.ini** = Very subtle cel rendering = more realistic, no caricature effect = weak ambient occlusion
- **ER-AO-Cel_Shading_2.ini** = Subtle cartoon rendering, reminiscent of "old movie posters". The black lines of the character's outline are almost invisible, making the face more natural
- **ER-AO-Cel_Shading_3.ini** = Subtle cel rendering, my first release. Looks like a western comic
⚡ Performance impact
Frame rate drop in open areas: 1-2 FPS
🔧 Usage suggestions
For better realistic ambient occlusion (especially soil, grass and clothing) you can also activate MXAO.fx (normal bias ~0.700 to avoid flickering), but this will result in an additional loss of ~5-6 FPS in open areas.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
