SotE DLC update. Makes nights and indoor environments darker. (Non-Reshade)

Darker Nights (SotE DLC)

🌙 Module function

This mod makes the night in the game (junction area + DLC area) very dark, and you need to carry a light source at all times at night. Daytime lighting is not affected. At the same time, all indoor environments will also become dimmer.

🎮 Version update v1.2.5

**New features:**

  • 🐎 Added lantern for Torret! Torrett now has a lantern hanging around his neck to see better in the dark while riding
  • Adjusted all weather and locations to remove blue/purple fog tint at night
  • Made the raindrop particle effect less bright at night
  • Made the snowy areas slightly darker

**NOTE:** If you don't want the torret lantern feature and just want to use the darker night effect, just don't install the "chr" folder and the regulation.bin file

⚙️Technical Notes

This isn't Reshade or anything like that, it's done by editing the game files. The effect in the screenshot does not use Reshade (other than fixing the ribbon issue).

🗺️ Compatibility

While I haven't tested every location in the game yet, this mod should work with all outdoor locations and all indoor areas, including underground areas (River Shivra, River Anser, etc.).

💡 Usage suggestions

If it feels too dark, you can increase the brightness setting in the game options menu.

📥 Installation method

Extract the zip file into ModEngine2's mod folder just like you would when installing any other mod.

**Folder to be placed:**

  • param
  • chr
  • sfx

These folders should all be placed in the mod folder.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
