One-time FPS refresh rate performance patch

by jryork·v1.0·Updated 2025-11-05

This is a simple tutorial for creating a patched Elden Circle executable that unlocks frame rate and refresh rate, and provides additional options. All credit should go to Gurrgur on GitHub, except for one .bat file, nothing in this process is my original work. Applies to version 1.06, not tested on previous versions.

One-Time FPS RefreshRate Performance Patcher

🎯 Function Overview

This is a one-time process (unless the game is updated again) that removes FPS limits and refresh rate limits, and provides numerous other options. This can be used as an alternative to running (1) Flawless widescreen or (2) EldenRingFPSUnlockAndMore every time the game is opened. This method will edit the underlying executable files so you don't need to open those programs every time.

⚙️ System Requirements

  • Requires Python installation, but no Python knowledge required
  • The latest version of Python can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store or python.org

⚠️ IMPORTANT WARNING

Before doing anything, be sure to:

  • Use this link to disable the anti-cheat system
  • Create a backup of the entire `\ELDEN RING\Game\` folder as this process will modify the eldenring.exe executable file

🚀 Installation steps

Not using mods

If you don't plan to use modengine2 or EldenModLoader, I recommend following Gurrgur's GitHub page instructions directly:

Using Mods

  • **Install Python** – Install from the Microsoft store or python.org
  • **Download File** - Contains modengine2, ER-patcher and the .bat file I created to run the patch
  • **Move files** - Move all files in er-patcher-main to the game directory (the path where eldenring.exe is located)
  • **Custom Settings** - Default settings include:
  • FPS limit set to 300 (can be modified)
  • Removed the 60hz refresh rate limit in full screen
  • Remove vignetting and chromatic aberration
  • Skip opening logo
  • Increase animation distance
  • **Run patch** - Double-click launcher_erpatcher.bat to run, and then move the contents of the er-patcher-tmp folder to the game directory
  • **Done** - The mod loader should now work!

---

💡 Usage suggestions

The whole process is very simple and should be completed within 5 minutes. All settings can be modified according to personal preference, just right-click and edit the .bat file with a text editor (Notepad++ recommended).

Remember to enjoy unlimited frame rates and smoother gameplay! 🎮✨

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
