🌟 Tool Introduction
Gideon Ofnir is here to take care of your MENU_Knowledge (and other UI files) for you!
This is a tool designed specifically for the ELDEN RING mod, allowing you to package up scattered DDS and layout files and let mod users merge these files with their own game files.
✨ **Core Advantages**:
- Provides a friendly configuration wizard for modders
- Provide users with one-click installation experience
- Focus on usability design
---
🛠️ System requirements
-.NET Desktop Runtime 6
When a user runs Gideon, the system automatically detects the runtime environment and prompts for downloading in a friendly way. It will even open a browser window automatically! World class service experience!

💡 Tool usage
Gideon lets you add the following elements to your mod while minimizing conflicts with other mods:
- High resolution "MENU_KNOWLEDGE" icon
- UI textures
- UI layout file
For content mods, it also avoids users having to download a 1.1GB zip file just for a few high-resolution icons.
---
📁 Preparation
**00_Solo.tpfbdt file (high resolution icons, loading screen)**
Create a folder **outside** the module to store the DDS files you want to overwrite/add.
📌 **Technical Requirements**:
- File naming should match the original file
- Only needs DDS format, no need to package into TPF
- Save as BC7_UNORM format, no mipmaps
- MENU_KNOWLEDGE icon must be 1024x1024
**01_common.tpf.dcx file (UI element)**
Same as above, but in a separate folder.
**01_common.slytbnd.dcx file (layout file)**
Create a folder **outside** the module to store the layout files you want to overwrite.

🚀 How to use
**Initial Deployment**
- Extract Gideon to a folder of your choice
- Run **Gideon.exe**
- Follow the wizard steps:
- Select your module folder (including regulation.bin, menu, chr, etc. folders)
- Select the file category to deploy (Solo, Common and/or Layout) and point to the appropriate folder
- (Optional) Create a shortcut to update the deployment folder with one click when new files are added
Once complete, a copy of Gideon will be deployed in your mod's **menu\deploy** folder and generate a user-friendly shortcut.
**Update Deployment**
- If you generated the shortcut in the optional step above, just run the shortcut after adding the new file
- If not, run **Gideon.exe** in the module's **menu\deploy** folder (not the shortcut)
**As a mod user**
If you are using the mod with Gideon deployment:
- Just run the shortcut provided in the mod base folder
- You may be prompted to install the .NET runtime (see requirements)
- If all goes well, you should be able to launch the mod and see the new elements in your game
🎯 **One click to get it done! **

❓ FAQ
**I still don’t quite understand...**
This tool exists to solve a specific problem. If you haven't dealt with icons and UI elements in your mod yet, don't worry just yet!
Once you need to deal with these issues, you'll quickly realize:
- Your UI mod will conflict with all other mods
- You need to bundle huge tarball just to add a few files
This is the meaning of Gideon's existence!
**Bonus**: Gideon also lets users choose PS4 button prompts! Lots of love for the Dualshock controller.
⚠️ **NOTE**: Gideon currently **does not support** other FromSoftware games.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
