Elden Ring Save Backup.exe
🎮 **Intelligent archive protection, say goodbye to the worry of archive loss! **
✨ Core Functions
The main purpose of this .exe file is to automatically back up your save information every time you open the game. If you encounter a save loss situation in the future (e.g. infinite loading screens, corrupted saves, etc.), you will only lose a day of progress at most, without having to recreate your entire character!
🚀 How to use
You can place this .exe file anywhere and use it to launch the game instead of the previous startup method. If you want to open the game without creating a backup, just launch it through another method (such as through Steam).
⚙️ System Requirements
- **Operating System**: Only tested on Windows system
- **Platform Requirements**: Game must be installed via Steam
- **Storage Location**: Program and archive information must be stored in the C drive
💡 **NOTE**: If you store your games or saves on a different drive, you may run into issues. But the code can be easily adapted to suit your needs.
🔧 Development background
This tool was originally written in Python, with the first version of the .exe file created via PyInstaller. Due to a large number of false positives in virus detection, the author chose to convert the script into a C program and recompile it, obtaining an improved executable file.
🌐 **Open Source Project**: This project is completely open source and can also be found on GitHub.
If you prefer, you still have the option of downloading the original Python script to use (provided Python is installed on your machine).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
