wandering planet III / wandering planet 3

Serious statement: This mod has nothing to do with a certain Beijing and a certain ball! Do not accept endorsements from either!

The wandering earth has escaped the original star system. After losing the sun, solar energy and Dyson spheres are no longer reliable sources of energy, and the entire planetary system will forever fall into night; but the long wandering between stars also gives unipolar magnets that can only be found near dense celestial bodies a chance to appear directly on the local planet. But be careful: Wandering planets move through the universe fast! The transport ship and Icarus won't be so easy to catch up with! Bring enough fuel before heading into space!

wandering planet III adds a truly moving wandering planet system to the new universe of "Dyson Sphere Project". They have no physical stars and continue to travel between galaxies, taking random diversions and traveling through wormholes. Later in the game, players can also study planetary space folding and personally lead the entire wandering system into warp speed.

Main content

rogue planetary system

  • Each new universe generates 3 to 8 wandering systems by default, and the number can be adjusted in the configuration file.
  • Each system has 1 main rogue planet and at least 2 first-level satellites; including nested satellites, the total number of satellites does not exceed 5. Only when the "All themes" option of the birth system is manually turned on, the birth wandering system is not subject to this restriction.
  • The star map uses gray, ordinary G-star-sized "wandering galaxy" markers to help players orient themselves; there are no stellar entities, light sources, flares or colliders in actual space.
  • Planets in the wandering system do not have normal day and night, and the star map thumbnail does not show the day side facing the virtual star.

Navigation, diversion and wormholes

  • The wandering system moves continuously at 600 m/s by default.
  • The system will automatically select a new destination when it is 1 ly away from the current target star.
  • The route will be randomly changed according to the in-game time during the voyage. The interval is re-randomly chosen between 30 minutes and 20 ly / current speed.
  • New targets are first randomly selected within 60° of the current heading; when there is no suitable target, the ordinary star with the smallest steering angle is selected.
  • By default, each wandering system encounters a wormhole independently every 2 to 6 game hours, is teleported to a random ordinary star 1 ly away, and then chooses another star to continue wandering.
  • A silent black fog alarm style prompt will be displayed 15 seconds before the wormhole jump, and the wandering galaxies and wormhole exit stars that are about to jump will be notified in advance; when multiple galaxies are announced at the same time, they will be arranged in sequence.
  • Normal navigation and wormholes will not target other wandering systems. When the player is in a wandering system, the system's random wormhole countdown is paused.

Born in the homeless system

New archives start from the first wandering system by default, and the original birth system can also be restored through configuration. BirthPlanetThemeId can specify the theme ID of the birth planet, which defaults to the original Mediterranean theme 1; invalid themes or gaseous themes will fall back to theme 1.

IncludeAllThemesInBirthSystem is off by default. When manually turned on, the Birth Wandering system generates at least one planet for each planet theme available in new saves, and removes the system's 5 moon limit. All first-level satellites of the wandering main planet will use orbit numbers 1 to 16; when there are more than 16, these numbers will be reused evenly. Satellites of satellites still use the original nested orbit rules. This option only affects new archives.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
