About this mod Machine translation

Vegetation Protection / Plant Protection

Botanist Edition: The planetary vegetation protection operation is officially launched!

The torrent of steel will eventually sweep across the sea of stars, but a tree on the roadside should not become a victim of industrialization just because Icarus passes by. Now, the mecha needs to face up to the nature in front of it, and the factory can only clear away the vegetation that really hinders the construction. Let the production line extend into the universe and leave the remaining green in place.

Vegetation Protection is a vegetation protection mod for Dyson Sphere Project. It prevents Icarus from automatically destroying trees, shrubs, and surface rocks when walking, running, or colliding with it, while also tightening the range of vegetation clearing for buildings to a true physical collision range.

Main functions

  • Icarus no longer causes collision damage to trees, shrubs, and ground rocks when passing through them.
  • Larger plants and rocks will still block Icarus and will need to be detoured or actively cleared.
  • When placing a building, only plants or stones that actually penetrate the mold with the building's physical collision body will be cleared.
  • Simply being close to a building, or falling within the larger building footprint of the original version, will no longer cause vegetation to disappear.
  • Active harvesting, manual mining, terrain leveling, ore veins and other combat behaviors remain unchanged.

To put it simply: trees will not be destroyed when walking, and trees will not be accidentally damaged when building; vegetation that actually blocks the building will still be cleared away normally.

Install

This mod requires BepInEx 5.

Use the mod manager

  • Download the release ZIP from GitHub Releases.
  • Select Import local mod in r2modman or Mod Manager.
  • Launch the game using the Mod Manager.

Manual installation

Place DSPPreserveVegetation.dll in:

BepInEx/plugins/DSPPreserveVegetation/

compatibility

  • The current version is developed for "Dyson Sphere Project" Steam build 23109513.
  • The mod will not modify the save data. After removal, the game will restore the original collision and vegetation clearing behavior.
  • After the game is updated, if related functions change, the patch may become invalid; at that time, a clear patch failure record can be viewed in the BepInEx log.

English

Vegetation Protection prevents Icarus from destroying trees, bushes, and loose surface rocks simply by walking, running, or colliding with them. Large vegetation can still block movement and may be gathered manually.

Building placement is also more precise: vegetation is removed only when its physical collider actually intersects a building collider. Plants that merely touch the building or fall inside the game's oversized construction bounds are preserved. Manual gathering, mining, terrain flattening, veins, enemies, and unrelated combat behavior remain unchanged. The mod does not alter save data.

Requires BepInEx 5. Import the release ZIP as a local mod in r2modman Mod Manager, or place DSPPreserveVegetation.dll in BepInEx/plugins/DSPPreserveVegetation.

Install & use Install: BepInEx plugin

  1. The archive from playbuff is the mod itself — usually a BepInEx plugin (a .dll or a plugin folder once unzipped).
  2. Recommended: use a community mod manager (such as r2modman) — pick this game, import the mod, and the manager sets up BepInEx and its dependencies for you.
  3. Manual route: install the BepInEx loader in the game folder, then drop the unzipped .dll or plugin folder into BepInEx/plugins/.
  4. Launch the game — the BepInEx console logs every plugin it loads; seeing this mod in the log means it is installed.

Mods with listed dependencies need those installed too, or they will not load. Options are usually changed in-game or in the plugin's config file.
