About this mod Machine translation

Many thanks to Sir Bretticus and adm for helping me with some code

NOTE: The mod intends to make a series of adjustments to the food in the game while staying true to klei's intentions in a cleaner and more immersive way. Mods are not meant to change the normal way of playing, but to provide more ways to play.

Even if you're stuck in a desolate forest with nowhere to escape, eating a balanced diet is healthy.

This mod is the first in a series of mods I'm calling: "The Magic of Balance," which is designed to rebalance, tweak, and change every little aspect of the game, whether it's inconsistencies, tweaks, or, in rare cases, complete features.

Balanced Diet adjusts all foods in the game so that no one food source is less viable than the others, with nearly every aspect of impact altered.

Here is a list of things I hope to change in the future and things I have already changed.

Checklist to do:

•Added ways to obtain "Grim Galete"

  • Added a setting so caged birds don't die of starvation

•Port the mod to single player (it will take some time though)

Main changes:

All raw, cooked, dry and stewed foods have their properties modified by the different details of the food. Such as: the type of food, its origin, its rarity, and what they were originally intended for. Here are some examples:

-Meat is a great way to fill your belly, but your fireplace may not be able to tolerate it all the time.

-Fish are good healers and are also classified as meat, eels are even better than regular fish.

Eggs are a recyclable form of meat, which means they're not as efficient to eat as a handful of eggs, but they still fit nicely in the pot

-Almost every raw food will damage your sanity between -3 and -20, you'd better cook them first

-Sweets like honey are good for you if eaten raw, but can end up damaging your health if cooked in a big pot

•More wok-shabu ingredients have arrived! Bat wings, leaf flesh, hatched large bird eggs, cooked sea anemones and ferns are now considered stew ingredients and can be used in any recipe.

Better farm spawning opportunities have been improved overall so you can get more rare plants. Improved farmland takes half a day less and basic farmland takes one full day less.

Spider Glands, Mosquito Bags, Healing Ointments, and Honey Bandages now heal you better, while food generally heals you less[/B]

•Deercrops' eyeballs, guardian horns, and hatched Tallbird eggs are no longer edible.

By the way: birds in cages can't be fed hard-boiled eggs over the fire either, so meat recovery is harder than before.

"Banana Pop", "Surf and Turf", "Seafood Gumbo", "Cermouse" and "Steamed Ham Sandwich" from Shipwreck and Little Village can now be cooked in a cauldron!

•The temperature of all pot foods has been adjusted to make them feel like they belong in a harsh and crazy world! Most of them have a small modifier of 5 seconds, but some will hit +30 degrees for a full minute! There are some foods you may not want to eat in winter/summer because you may die from the hazards of the revered season.

•Cacti and spiky bushes will now deal full damage to you regardless of whether you're wearing armor, which will make cactus and cactus flowers a more tedious resource to collect.

•Cooked mandrakes and mandrake soup now increase your maximum stat by 100x! This stimulation is based on the amount of mandrakes you choose to eat, but also disappears after you die. Now you can choose between the all powerful pan flute and improve your performance!

Incidentally: Wolfgang did not benefit from the increase in data at all.

•Sleep values have been adjusted to better fit the mode, you can choose the duration until you get the full stat value, you can take a nap and then get back to work, or be scared and don't have to worry about dying in the dark for a full minute!

Wally's rework added a variety of food items that were obsolete most of the time because I added an option to the mod's config that removed about half of the functionality:

-Onions, tomatoes, and as …

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
