About this mod Machine translation

When you connect to a server, the game doesn't send the entire world data: you only receive nearby areas or the parts that other players changed while you were connected. This mod forces an update of the entire world so you have the actual latest version.

Global Cartographer

🗺️ Function Overview

When you connect to a multiplayer server as a client, for performance and bandwidth reasons, the game will only send information about areas near you or that other players have changed while you're connected (such as digging, cutting down trees, etc.). This means that most of your map is just in a "pristine" state, as it was when the world was first created, and will remain stale.

🔄 Forced update

This mod allows you to force download the entire server map, which is a laggy process, but only needs to be done once each time you connect to the server (because the server will keep your map updated on its own afterwards). Of course, the game will run fine without doing this, but it will make the map more accurate.

⚠️ IMPORTANT WARNING

  • **Do not perform forced updates inside a building** and do not enter a building during the update process
  • If executed inside a building, the game will **severely stutter** and may even lock up
  • If you go back outside, the lag will at least not get worse, but it won't significantly improve until the process is complete.
  • **Do not use in deep underground mines** and do not use while trying to sleep
  • It is recommended to leave it running while chopping trees, chatting or doing other things

⚙️ Configuration Settings

There is a setting in the configuration file that controls the update speed:

  • **1 is the slowest**, 10 is the fastest
  • Faster updates mean faster completion, but also increase lag
  • On a very powerful computer, setting 10 takes about 20 seconds to complete
  • The slowest speed (Setting 1) usually takes less than 3 minutes to complete and is recommended for computers with lower performance

🎯 Update completed

Once the update is complete, a forced map image update is performed (this only happens at the end of the update so as not to slow down the update process further). After this, the map will continue to function normally, which means that although the server will send new data, in most cases the map will not update.

📊 Progress indicator

During the update process, a message will appear on the screen telling you what percentage of the update is complete, as a progress indicator. There are options in the configuration file to control how often these messages are displayed.

🎮 How to use

  • Make sure you’re outside
  • Open the chat window
  • Enter "force download world" (spaces and case do not matter)

💡 Usage restrictions

  • The command can only be used once per session
  • Cannot be used on hosts on multiplayer servers or in single-player games
  • Because in these cases you have an authoritative, always up-to-date copy

🔧 Installation instructions

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
