Overview
Cinders aims to deliver a whole new experience with Dark Souls 3, expanding on the underwhelming aspects of the original game and opening up more ways to play.
Upgrades have been changed to allow for more flexibility in your route through the main game. After arriving at Firelink Shrine, you can now go to:
High Wall Lothric: Recommended for normal gaming
Dreg Heap: A challenging start.
There are now in-map twists in special objects, allowing you to mix the usual progression routes:
The undead settle in Farron Keep
Settlement of the Undead in the Catacombs of Cartes
Smoldering Lake to Irithyll Dungeon
High Walls of Lothric to Archdragon Peak
Weapons have been tweaked so that almost all of them feel powerful if you use the right build.
Armor has been overhauled and all armor sets provide some form of bonus for wearing them. Absorption is increased, so wearing heavier armor will have a noticeable impact on your survivability.
The selection of rings has expanded and their effects have changed, so there is no clear-cut ring that is more valuable than others.
The statistics have been adjusted such that HP and Planned Parenthood now offer more linear growth but start lower, rewarding large investments but creating challenges for those who don't.
FP now regenerates at a constant rate every second. This allows casters to have viable playstyles without sacrificing Estus Flasks.
Spells have been tweaked, bringing in weaker spells like Lightning Spear and changing the casting animations of spells that were often too slow for Dark Souls 3's combat speed.
Key items and more have been adjusted to accommodate new progression route options and increase the interest of exploration by rendering lore from the original game useless.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
