🛡️ Module Introduction

**Vanilla version of Gyll: Hero Remastered** aims to be a complete redesign or balance adjustment of all 15 original hero classes.

Remakes of DLC characters have also been released as standalone mods:

  • **Shield Breaker**
  • **The Flagellant**
  • **Musketeer**

🎯 Design Goals

  • **Increased Variety**: Increase the number of viable playstyles for each class.
  • **Balance**: Ensure that no profession is constantly completely overpowered by other professions.
  • **Compatible setting**: Mechanically fulfill the promise of the original art and character design.
  • **Simplified for Clarity**: Simplified skill and tooltip text in general.
  • **Significant Effect**: Ensure the retained effects are impactful both in terms of perception and impact on decision-making.

📜 Design principles

**Union Description**

Guild descriptions are considered the "blueprint" of a hero, and this mod respects and preserves these descriptions, which still apply to the modded version of the hero.

**Minimize loss of functionality**

Strategies that worked in the original game should not become completely useless or unusable, only the most powerful strategies will have their effectiveness slightly diminished. The exceptions to this rule are "trick" strategies against specific bosses (such as using Rallying Flare on the Pig Prince).

**Accessories use**

This mod does not modify trinkets, so heroes will still need to make efficient use of all their unmodified trinkets.

📖 Update Log and Compatibility

  • **🔧 Compatibility Note**

This module modifies the hero's `.art` and `.info` files, as well as the basic camping skill files. If other mods also use these files, conflicts will occur. In addition, overhaul mods like "Pitch Black Dungeon" that rely on modifying each hero will create serious balance issues if used at the same time as this mod. If your mods don't fall into either of the above categories, congratulations, they are compatible!

🌐 Localization

A small amount of effort has been put into making the mod playable in non-English languages, but only the English version has been fully tested. In other languages, you may encounter some English text, as well as prompt text that may be very long or truncated. If you would like to translate this mod into another language, please contact me!

⚠️ Known issues

If you enable this mod while dungeon crawling with a Bandit, Hound Master, or Bounty Hunter, their new transformation skills may not work properly. To avoid this bug, please enable this mod outside of the dungeon or after completing the dungeon.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
