Quirk Tierlist Reference Guide

✨ Module Introduction

This mod replaces the in-game Credits screen with a quick reference guide based on the Darkest Dungeon Quirk Rating List created by Dera112.

🛠️ Original intention of creation

I made this mod primarily for my own use, as I often need to quickly look up in-game what level (S, A, B, etc.) a particular quirk belongs to.

To implement this feature, I needed a location for this massive list of quirks that could be accessed from almost anywhere in the game. Finally, I selected the Credits section (although the menu button still said "Credits"). This means you can view this guide in **town**, **mission selection screen**, **supply screen**, **dungeon crawl**, and even **during combat**. The only place that's inaccessible is the game's main menu, as the game won't load mods until a save is loaded.

In a sense, this is better. I'm a game developer myself and believe in giving developers the credit they deserve. Removing the credits entirely feels out of place, and the developers at Red Hook Studios Inc. are more than deserving of the honor.

📖Mod positioning: what it is and what it is not

**Please note**: This is not a replacement for the Dera112 guide, there are two main differences:

  • **His tiered list** contains detailed explanations of why each quirk is placed in a specific tier, the logic of the ordering, which classes will benefit most/least, etc. **My Reference Guide** Due to space limitations, these explanations are not available, only a list of quirks grouped by the same rank, and arranged in alphabetical order.
  • **His tiered list** has specific ordering within **each tier**, further categorized by quirks' importance and influence. **My Reference Guide** For quick search, all quirks within each level are listed in **alphabetical order**.

You can think of my reference guide as a **supplemental tool** to his graded list. Once you are familiar with his classification logic and reasons, you don't need to check all the detailed explanations all the time. Sometimes you just need to quickly confirm whether a quirk is S-level, A-level, or B-level.

🚀 User Guide

If you are new to his tiered list, I recommend:

  • **First**, read his rating list **Click here**.
  • **Second**, ideally, watch the following three videos, which explain in detail what the graded list is:
  • Quirk rating list (S-level and A-level quirks)
  • Quirk rating list (B- and C-level quirks)
  • Quirk rating list (D, E and F level quirks)
  • *Extra Recommendation*: "Darkest Dungeon" Class Review Playlist (to help you better understand each class)
  • **Finally**, if you want a quick way to look up quirks in the game by level **alphabetically**, download my mod. Once downloaded, remember to enable the mod, load your save, and simply go to the "Credits" section from the game menu.

This way, you'll both have a handy quick reference guide and understand which quirks are more influential within each class based on his explanations.

📝Final Notes

I've done my best to check the quirk information in-game and on the wiki, but if you find any typos or omissions, please let me know and I'll do my best to update.

As a side note: I tried editing the text of the credits in the hope that it would include everything from the rating guide, but unfortunately I couldn't find a way to edit the `credits.cdt` file, so I ended up editing the image instead. The "Back" button functions fine, but I repositioned it to better fit the information layout.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
