⚙️ Compatibility and Installation

This mod itself is not compatible with other mods, but with some simple copy-paste you can make it compatible.

**Easy Compatibility Guide:**

If you already have other Darkest Dungeon mods installed and want to ensure a certain level of compatibility, just follow these steps:

  • **Localization files**: Find the `monsters.string_table` file.
  • **Script file**: Find the `.effects` file.
  • Cut the original content parts located **above** (in .effects) and **below** (in localization) the `----------` separator in these two files.
  • Paste these contents into the corresponding files you already have (**Be careful not to replace any original content**).

**AI file processing:**

If you have trouble doing the same with monster AI definition files (`monsterBrains`), you can simply replace all new instances of `monster_brain: "xxxxx"` with `"monster_brain:.id default_A/B/C"` (choose A, B or C as appropriate).

**Special Note for Maggot Carriers:**

Maggot Carriers use custom debuffs. You can open the `maggot_carrier_A/B/C.info` file, find the effects section of the skill "Feast", and replace the `"Necrosis"` and `"Septicemia"` marked in red with `"Wasting Sickness"` or simply `"Disease"` (if you want it to be a random disease).

Are you ready to face a new threat from the depths of the shadows? Good luck, explorer!

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
