DD balance mode

**Hello, this is a balance mod. ** 🛠️ I made this mod to make the game more interesting and let tactics play a more important role than randomness (RNG). This is not a mod that makes the game too easy, the game is still challenging and you need to use your own strategies to conquer higher level dungeons.

Additionally, I've included an optional inventory stacking feature, so if you're interested, take a look below.

---

✨ Main functions

**1. Hero damage adjustment**

The hero's damage has been slightly increased so that when you upgrade all your equipment and skills to max level, the damage dealt will be more reasonable.

  • **Why? ** Imagine that you face a level 5 monster with 100+ health, but can only deal 7-8 points of damage due to poor randomness. This is very frustrating. Now, by choosing the right tactics, your heroes will be more effective in combat.

**2. Critical hit chance reworked**

Critical chance now scales linearly with weapon level:

  • Weapon Level 1: **5%**
  • Weapon Level 2: **10%**
  • Weapon Level 3: **15%**
  • Weapon Level 4: **20%**
  • Weapon level 5: **25%**
  • **Why? ** This makes building a crit hero more meaningful. Previously, the weapon had only a 9.5% critical hit rate at level 5, so adding another 2% to the critical hit rate was almost useless. Critical hits now become a truly viable tactical option.

**3. Healing skill enhancement**

The effectiveness of healing skills has been slightly improved, but still **not too powerful**.

  • **Why? ** I wish you could make more diverse teams, instead of every team having to bring a **Nun** or **Occultist**. Many heroes have self-healing skills, and now these skills can also come in handy, making hero selection more flexible.
  • **Example:** The Crusader will heal a bit more than the original 1-2 health, which I think is fair. But that by no means means he heals for 20 points, it's just a balanced and viable option.

📦 Installation and optional features

In the downloaded tarball, you will find two main folders: `heroes` and `dlc`.

  • **Install the Balance Mod:** Copy and paste these two folders into your Darkest Dungeon game root directory and choose to overwrite when prompted.
  • **⚠️ STRONGLY RECOMMENDED: ** Back up your original files before proceeding in case something goes wrong and you don't need to reinstall the game.
  • **Optional: Unlimited Inventory Stacking**

There is also a folder named `inventory` inside the compressed package.

  • **Function:** It changes the stacking limit of all items to **999** and the gold coin limit to **99999**. This feature also supports items from the **Crimson Court** and **Shieldbreaker** DLC (such as health bottles and shields).
  • **Note:** This is my personal preference. I feel that the original inventory is not very friendly to players, so I share it. If you feel the same way, you can also copy this folder to the game directory.

✅ Compatibility

  • This mod is fully compatible with the **Crimson Court** and **Shieldbreaker** DLC (version 21142).

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
