Custom Heroes for Crius

✨ **Welcome to a more balanced and friendly world of Darkest Dungeon! ** This mod aims to provide a complete rebalancing of the playable classes in the game and all its expansions (as of May 8, 2020 - "Color Of Madness" version 24839), allowing you to play at a more relaxed pace and reduce the harsh penalties from Random Numbers (RNG).

🛠️Mod origin

This mod is based on the work of the **Powerful Heroes** mod, which is no longer maintained. I've updated all class files to include the game's latest mechanics (like critical hit triggers and heal over time) to ensure you're not playing a nerfed version of an overpowered hero! 😉

⚔️Main changes

The following are the core adjustments of this rebalancing:

  • **💥 Enhanced Damage over Time (DoT)**: Most DoT effects now deal significant damage on a single hit or duration. Classes that rely on DoT are more fun and satisfying to play.
  • **🎯 Skill range expansion**: A large number of skills that originally attack a single target can now attack an adjacent target at the same time (hit rate and damage have been adjusted accordingly).
  • **❤️Significantly increased health**: The base health of all professions has been significantly increased, so that the infamous "two critical hits in a row" will not directly kill your character instantly.
  • **🩹 More viable healers**: Now you have more healing options and are no longer tied to a single class.
  • **Nun**: The most comprehensive healer, with good single-target healing and group healing capabilities. Both treatments will have slight decompression and continuous healing effects.
  • **Plague Doctor**: Retains the original smoke and steam skills, but now its main healing ability is powerful group continuous healing.
  • **Occult Scholar**: Its single-target healing ability is greatly enhanced, retaining the bleeding mechanism, and of course those tentacle-based things.
  • **Joker**: Two different songs can strengthen different attributes, and at the same time provide powerful group pressure relief or good group continuous treatment.

These changes are intended to provide more flexibility in your party composition, especially in the late game, as you are no longer forced to bring a Sister.

🤝 Community Career Support

As an added bonus, this mod also supports several popular community classes from the excellent author **Marvin Seo**: **Falcon, Lamia, and Slave**. The main method of support is to increase their basic health and damage to keep them on the same level as other professions.

📋 Installation and use

  • **✅ REQUIREMENTS**: The only requirement is to have the correct version of Darkest Dungeon (version **24839**). Unless Red Hook Studios removes certain features, it's likely that it will still work fine in subsequent versions.
  • **⚠️ IMPORTANT NOTE**: If you use **Marvin Seo's module** at the same time, please make sure to **load this module first** before loading other modules.

Get ready to form your dream team of heroes and challenge the darkness of the dungeon with a new attitude! Good luck and may the light be with you. 🔥

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
