Control the Enemy Target

🎮 **CET** - Take control of the battle and decide who gets beaten!

Have you ever had one of those moments when those damn skeletons just won’t let your poor nun go? Or that witch catching your leper again and again? Or...you just want more control over your luck in Darkest Dungeon? If your answer is close to "yes" to any of the above questions, then this mod is for you!

🤔 What is "Control Enemy Target"?

**Control the Enemy Target**, **CET** for short, as its name suggests, it allows you to control the enemy's attack target! More specifically, it allows you to choose who will be the target of your enemies' merciless attacks. Do you want the Skeleton Crossbowmen to shoot your Dog Handler instead of your Occult Scholar? Now you can do it!

🚫 What can’t it do?

First, you don't get to choose which attack the enemy uses; that's up to the enemy. Oh, and you can't have bad guys attacking their own friends, either. You can't have your hero attack another hero, why can the enemy?

Additionally, you have no control over enemy healing and summons. I've tried making them optional targets, but that just causes the game to freeze (note, you can control the attack of the summons, I'm just saying you can't control where they are summoned from, etc.).

Remember, enemy attacks that target your entire party will still target your entire party.

❓ Why should I use this mod?

  • **Get more control! ** You get to decide who gets hurt. For example, you can use this mod to prevent a dying Crusader from being killed.
  • ** Adds fun to the game! ** Come on, give it a try!

📝 Is there anything else I need to know?

Due to code implementation reasons, when you select a target for an enemy, a slightly distracting tooltip text appears on mouseover. Other than that, there's not much to say about CET.

It's compatible with Darkest Dungeon version 21101, and should work with any mod that doesn't modify enemy info files.

⚙️ How to install this mod?

  • **Download and Unzip**: Download the mod and unzip the "monsters" folder to your Darkest Dungeon installation directory. **Don't** put it in your mods folder, put it in the game files directory. If the "Overwrite file" prompt appears on the screen, you've placed it in the right place.
  • **Overwrite files**: Overwrite all files.
  • **Done! ** If you want to test it, start a new game and let the enemies from the tutorial attack you.

**NOTE**: The "dlc" folder is for the Crimson Court and Shield Breaker DLCs. Only install these downloadable content if you own them.

🗑️ How to uninstall this mod?

It's simple, repeat the steps to install the mod, but this time use "Backup" to back up the files in the folder. This will return the game to normal.

Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions

  1. Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
  2. There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
  3. Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
  4. Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.

Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
