Conexus
🎉 **Welcome to Conexus! **
Conexus is an all-in-one tool that converts your Steam collection or linked list into a mod load order for the game Darkest Dungeon.
---
🧩 Your loading order is simplified
If you've played mods for Darkest Dungeon for a while, you've probably noticed that when the number of loaded mods reaches an unknown value, the in-game UI crashes.
**At this time, Conexus appears...**
Using an intuitive graphical interface, Conexus will analyze your Steam collection, download or update those mods (you can do both!), and then move those folders to the correct location and name them with names you understand and that the game will read in the order of your Steam collection.
Not using Steam Collection? No problem, Conexus can handle it too! Just provide the link in a text file and Conexus will make sure your mod is organized as you decide.

⚙️ Requirements
- A legitimate copy of Darkest Dungeon game
- SteamCMD
---
🚀 Settings
- You need to install and run SteamCMD. Once downloaded, it is recommended to extract to `C:\SteamCMD` or any other drive/location you like. Preferably no spaces.
- To download all necessary files, you need to open a command prompt (Windows key + R, type "cmd").
- After opening, enter `cd:`.
- Next, type `steamcmd` and press enter, SteamCMD should start running!
- Finally, you need to download and install the latest version of Conexus, which will be saved to `C:\Conexus` by default.
- The hardest part is done, let’s start organizing!
---
🎮 Operating Conexus
You need to prepare four pieces of information:
- Your Steam collection URL or link list (saved in `DarkestDungeon\mods\Links.txt`)
- The directory where SteamCMD is extracted/installed
- The directory of the "Darkest Dungeon" module folder
- Your Steam credentials
Once you have these ready, you can start your adventure with Conexus!
Once you have all the necessary information stored in Conexus, just click the "Organize Mods" button and Conexus will do its best to ensure that your in-game load order is of the highest quality.
Note that this may take some time depending on how big your mod list is. If you want to make sure everything is working properly, just navigate to your Darkest Dungeon mod directory and your SteamCMD Workshop directory. If you see folders appearing, disappearing, or doing a beautiful dance, then everything is fine.
Be patient, quality work takes time!
Starting with version 1.1.0, Conexus offers a second way to use its services. This comes in the form of a text file into which you can enter the URLs for all your mods. The file is located in `Documents\Conexus\Links\Links.txt`, you only need to provide one URL per line. Starting with v1.4.0, you can add the mod name using an asterisk (*) and Conexus will append it to the end of the folder name. Beyond that, you're free to format your files any way that suits you best!
For more information, see Understanding Links.txt on the Wiki, Understanding Links.txt in the User Guide, or the video "Understanding Links.txt".
Starting from version 1.3.0, Conexus saves all data to `Documents\Conexus`. All user data is saved in `Documents\Conexus\Config\config.ini`.
See Understanding Config.ini on the Wiki, Understanding Config.ini in the User Guide, or the video "Understanding Config.ini".
He will no longer save your Steam credentials, but you can modify this file with the information and he will load them normally!

🐛 Potential issues
If you encounter any problems, please let me know! Unfortunately, I don't have a PhD in pest control, so bugs may appear spontaneously. Starting from v1.2.0, Conexus will create a log file after completing the task, located in `Documents\Conexus\Logs`. If you have issues, please send them to me via the …
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
