Blackguard v16707
Have you ever wondered what became of the helmetless crusader on the early Darkest Dungeon posters? Why has he never shown his face again?
Well, he became so frustrated with his "fight for justice" that he turned to darkness for strength. By channeling his fear, hatred, and contempt, he found the strength to face the darkest dungeons, transforming into the terrifying Blackguard.
He has similar health, attack, and defense to the original Crusader class, but has a different set of attack skills.
🗡️ Skill introduction
- **Pierce** - Melee/Attack a single target.
- **Soul Siphon** - Ranged/Attack enemies and steal life for yourself.
- **Ravage** - Melee/attack two enemies.
- **Intimidation** - Melee/stun 1 enemy, knocking them back.
- **Dark Ray** - Attacks an enemy remotely/from the back of the team, causing a dark effect.
- **Condensed Hatred** - Melee/Guard, mark self.
- **Shadow of Death** - Remote/summons a demonic monster to attack for him. It will cause the Hell Apostle's fatigue/fatal weakness/mark self/darkness effect, but it can cause a lot of damage.
**Note**: The animation of Death Shadow still needs some adjustments and will be updated in the future.

⚙️ Important features and compatibility
The Blackguard behaves similarly to the Abomination, and due to his evil deeds, he will not be able to team up with religious heroes (such as Crusaders, Sisters, etc.).
🎮 Game experience
Tired of traditional heroes of light? Blackguard offers you a choice to embrace the power of darkness! He uses negative emotions as a weapon, with a skill set that combines survival (Soul Siphon), control (Intimidate), and powerful area of effect/summoning damage (Ravage, Death's Shadow). Although using powerful forces comes with a price (self-marks, negative status), high risks often come with high rewards, making it ideal for players who like a deep combination of strategy and role-playing.
**Update Log**:
* **v1.1**: Cleaned up most of the redundant pixels, added skull decoration to the sword to add uniqueness.
* Updated to adapt to game version **v16707**.
Install & use Install: follow the bundled instructions
- Unzip the archive from playbuff and read the bundled readme / instructions first.
- There is no universal mod manager for this game: some mods replace game files directly, some go into a game-specific Mods folder, and some need a game-specific community loader or tool first — follow the bundled readme.
- Place the files exactly as the readme says; mods with listed dependencies need those installed too.
- Launch the game to confirm it loaded; some games require enabling mods in settings or an in-game mod menu.
Install locations vary a lot between games and mods — the bundled readme is the most reliable guide.
